From "Mr. Watson, come here, I want to see you" to "I think you're on mute". โ˜Ž๏ธ ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ

Today marks 150 years since the invention of Alexander Graham Bell's telephone. What started as vibrations traveling across a single wire in 1876 has evolved into a global web of fibre optics, 5G, and cloud-based systems that could scarcely have been imagined all those years ago.

Without that rudimentary wooden transmitter, we wouldn't be where we are today. And while we've traded hand cranked phones and switchboards for VoIP, it's still about making sure the right person gets the message at the right time.

A little before and after of our office front... did someone say orange? ๐ŸŠ

If you're passing by our Bristol office, you might notice us looking a bit brighter. We've given the front a proper refresh with new paint, a new porch and a brand new sign letting people know exactly what we do.

The old front had served us well but was starting to look a bit tired. Now the outside perfectly represents what we're all about on the inside (and brings a pop of colour to a dreary December).

We've been out in Kingswood this week getting the connectivity ready for a great new addition to the high street. Lost in the Reads is a brand new independent bookshop and co-working space which will be opening its doors on 1st December.

We installed a broadband connection, WiFi and a fully managed network to support both the shop and the co-working hub upstairs.

We love seeing new businesses come to life so this has been an exciting project to work on.

Make sure to give them a follow and pop along to their grand opening for cakes, coffee, and a bit of Christmas shopping! ๐Ÿฐโ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿ“–

Our 5G router solution spent last weekend at Wickham Festival providing WiFi to one of the stallholders.

It's fair to say a field in rural Hampshire is not the ideal place to run a shop, but with their own WiFi setup and power supply, the stall was able to stay online and take card payments all festival long, even through a thunderstorm! โ›ˆ๏ธ

Ontel was born out of a desire to offer the kind of service we felt was missing from the industry - reliable, personal, accountable and built around the needs of SMEs.

We're proud to have built a sustainable business, providing an alternative telecoms solution for small businesses looking for genuine support and long-term partnership.

We've navigated changes both within the business itself and in the wider industry (not forgetting a global pandemic!), and we're still going strong with the same values of powerful telecoms with a personal touch.
