In honor of International Women's Day and World Cancer Day, Immersive hosted a company-wide talk with The Pink Agenda, a US based non-profit on a mission to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. The Pink Agenda representatives and cancer survivors, Nicole Seagriff and Nicole Corey, discussed their lived experience with breast cancer before sharing a number of stats and tips on how we can each reduce our own risks.

Here are some key takeaways from our discussion:

🕵️‍♀️ Early detection drastically improves survival rates: there is a 99% 5-year relative survival rate for Stage 0 or 1 diagnoses.

‼️ Unfortunately there are a variety of risk factors that aren't within our control, including: family history, aging, s*x, race, breast density, and menarche.

We all have the power to be proactive! Regular exercise 🏃‍♀️ and improved nutrition 🥗 can decrease your cancer risk and promote your overall wellbeing.

👩‍⚕️ Remember to discuss any significant lifestyle changes and potential risk factors with your health care provider.

When Immersers dedicate themselves to raising money for a cause they believe in, Immersive is there to support them. Employees pick a registered charity, tell the company how they’ll be fundraising and Immersive will match whatever funds are raised up to £500 (or local equivalent). 💵⚖️

One of our Boston-based account executives, Dylan Goodnough, fundraised for Live4Evan, a local organization committed to providing financial and emotional support to families while their children receives congenital cardiac treatment. ❤️ Dylan chose to run for Live4Evan because it was founded in his hometown, and wanted to use this Immersive benefit to support the foundation's essential efforts to assist families in need. 🏃🏁👨‍👩‍👦

Neurodiversity encourages us to ask, “What’s strong with you?” Instead of, “What’s wrong with you?”

Immersers spent the month of September raising awareness around neurodiversity. Defined as the range of differences in individual brain function and behavioral traits, neurodiversity recognizes the wide spectrum of abilities in all of us.

We participated in educational presentations, shared personal perspectives, as well as completing individual work preference surveys. We celebrated the importance of working with our differences instead of against them.

We learned what’s strong with us.

Educating all ages in cybersecurity best practices helps build a more secure future – so we headed to Swindon last week to support the Tech Spark and Cyber First Cyber Horizon initiative at UTC! 🤖

We sent our experts James Reynolds, Nikolas Cemerikic, and Charlotte Ball to put 14–18-year-old students through our Cyber Crisis Simulator, where they had to make decisions to avoid being hit by a ransomware attack! 💥
