You're not alone.

Many people receive emails that look convincing but leave them wondering whether they're real or not.

No pressure.
Just friendly advice and support when you need it.

A lot of iPad users are suddenly being asked to complete age verification after the latest Apple update.

And judging by the calls and questions this week… plenty of people are understandably confused by it.

If your device suddenly asks for:
• ID verification
• a credit card
• or proof of age

it doesn’t necessarily mean something is wrong with your account.

In many cases, it simply appears after updating to the latest software.

A few quick tips:

• Make sure you’re connected to reliable Wi-Fi
• Allow yourself a bit of extra time during setup
• Don’t panic if the process feels unfamiliar
• Ask for help before repeatedly pressing buttons if you’re unsure

Technology changes quickly, but that doesn’t mean you’re expected to magically know how every new update works.

Clear, patient support matters more than ever.

I’ve just had one of the most frustrating Apple setup experiences I can remember.

After updating a customer’s iPad to the latest software version, we were repeatedly asked to complete age verification before the device could be properly used again.

The frustrating part?

This customer had absolutely no interest in accessing age-restricted content. They simply wanted to carry on using their iPad normally.

Even selecting the “skip” option didn’t appear to work properly in this case, which meant we ended up having to go through the verification process anyway.

To complete it, Apple requested either:
• a scan of a driving licence or other recognised ID
• or a credit card for age verification

For many people this will just be a minor inconvenience.

But for some users, especially older adults or people less confident with technology, I can see this becoming genuinely stressful and confusing.

It’s a good reminder that even large updates from companies like Apple can sometimes create unexpected barriers for everyday users.

So if your iPhone or iPad suddenly starts asking for age verification after an update this week, don’t panic! You’re probably not doing anything wrong.

Just make sure you:
• have a decent internet connection
• allow yourself a bit of extra time
• and have suitable ID or a credit card nearby if needed

Has your computer been getting slower lately?

It’s one of the most common things we get asked about.

Often, it’s something that can be improved or fixed with the right help.

We keep things simple, explain what’s going on, and get things working properly again, without any jargon.

If it’s been frustrating you, feel free to send us a message - we’re always happy to help.

Sometimes the biggest tech problems aren’t actually technical

Often, it’s simply not knowing where to start.

We recently helped someone who had stopped using their tablet because it felt overwhelming.

After a calm visit at home, we worked through things step by step - no jargon, no pressure - and by the end they felt confident using it again.

That’s what good support should feel like.

If technology has been stressing you out, you’re not alone. And it can be much easier than you think.
