Save the date! 🚨🗓️

We are opening our studio again as part of the Winter Brighton Artists Open Houses! You can catch us for the first two weekends of the festival on the 28th & 29th November and the 5th & 6th of December at Make it 11 📍

Expect a full force festive celebration of craft, ceramics, prints, jewellery and art. Come and explore four large rooms including the studio kiln room The wintery garden will be open with ceramic sculptures.

There’s 68 Artists Open Houses venues openings this winter so you can explore all around Brighton and Hove fuelled by art and Design!

Hopefully we’ll get to see you on one of the 4 days 🥰🎄🛍️

lan Mckellen has long been an icon for me. It started with being the biggest X-Men geek in 2000’s (while being an angsty closeted gay kid) and when I got older learning about how important he is in fighting for equal rights for LGBTQ+ people.

Though he first came out publicly in a radio interview, I love this story that the same year he wrote this iconic message - while lobbying against Section 28 lan Mckellen visited the Conservative MP Michael Howard.
Howard refused to change his stance but asked McKellen to leave an autograph for his children. He agreed, but wrote “F*ck off, I’m gay.”
So I wanted to make a ceramic love letter to Ian McKellen and have a permanent ceramic artefact of the note in the style of my clay coming out letter and a vase telling the story. With a thank you for repeatedly being on the front line of q***r rights. ❤️

We headed to Canary Wharf yesterday to watch the real life Hunger Games! 🏹❤️‍🔥🫐

I’ve always been a secret nerd of The Hunger Games series and Lauren Harris surprised me for my birthday. I’ve never seen a more immersive show! The seating moves to change the area, a crazy amount of stuff appearing from under the stage, and the fight scenes in the roof and on the walls behind us kept us looking everywhere.

And now I can look forward to the new movie… 🌷☠️ 🐿️

Cheaper than a mechanical bird and definitely for sale!

Someone called my ceramic iced gems ‘Dust Collectors’ the other day as they’re just designed to make your shelf happy!

BUT that is solved with the invention of the iced gem string. They can now hang and look cute decorating trees and hooks. Sugary, sweet childhood nostalgia with ceramics 🍬🥰🐻‍❄️💎

When I made my Coming Out letter in ceramic it was because I wanted it to outlast the paper version as an artefact of the time. This Daily Mail article from 1993 many gay people have seen and it never gets less extreme to read. And with LGBTQ+ people noticing a shift in acceptance I felt like it was relevant.

I felt like it was important that this wasn’t allowed to be forgotten so made a porcelain and underglaze version that will outlive us all. A permanent reminder.
