Today we're putting the spotlight on one of our partners - Exclaimer Email Signature Manager

Question: Why are Business Email Signatures important?

Answer: For a several reasons...

REASON 1:
COMPLIANCE. The Companies Act 2006 requires that all business emails from private or public limited companies or Limited Liability Partnerships include the following information in the email signature:

1. The company's full name
2. The company's registration number
3. The company's place of registration (England, Scotland, or Wales)
4. The company's registered office address

With Exclaimer Signature Manager the email signature is applied automatically no matter if the email is sent from Computer, Mobile Device or Webmail. Therefore, important data will be on every email.
Without a signature manager you're reliant on your end users applying the signature from their email client.

REASON 2:
COMPANY BRANDING. With Exclaimer Signature Manager all end users email signatures are in the same format.
That means no matter who emails a recipient, the recipient will know they are communicating with employees from the same company.

If you have multiple departments and the signatures are different between departments you can create a signature for each department and add a group of users to each signature.

I.T. SECURITY ALERT - QUISHING – What you need to know.

Quishing, or QR phishing, is a type of cybersecurity threat in which attackers create QR codes to redirect victims into visiting or downloading malicious content.

What is quishing?
Quishing, or QR phishing, is a cybersecurity threat where attackers exploit QR codes to direct victims to malicious websites or prompt them to download harmful content. The objective of this attack is to steal sensitive information, such as passwords, financial data, or personally identifiable information (PII), which can then be used for identity theft, financial fraud, or ransomware attacks.
This form of phishing often evades traditional defenses like secure email gateways. QR codes in emails are often seen as harmless images by these security systems, leaving users vulnerable to phishing attacks. Additionally, QR codes can be delivered to targets through various other means.

How does quishing work?
In a quishing attack, attackers generate a QR code that links to a malicious website. They typically embed this QR code in phishing emails, social media posts, printed flyers, or on physical objects, using social engineering tactics to lure victims. For instance, an email might prompt recipients to scan a QR code to access an encrypted voice message for a chance to win a cash prize.
When victims scan the QR code with their phones, they are redirected to the malicious site, which may ask them to enter private information such as login credentials, financial details, or personal data. In the example, the site might request the user’s name, email address, physical address, date of birth, or account login information.
Once attackers obtain this sensitive information, they can use it for various malicious activities, including identity theft, financial fraud, or ransomware attacks.

How can end-users prevent quishing?
Ensure you verify the URL linked to the QR code and avoid submitting personal information, making payments, or downloading anything from a site accessed via a QR code. By following these precautions, individuals can lower the risk of becoming victims of quishing attacks.

Openreach are set to switch off analogue phone lines but what does this mean and when will it happen?

When will it happen?
Originally scheduled for 31st December 2025, the analogue switch off has already been delayed to 31st January 2027... phew!
Although the switch off is in the distant future - it'll get here sooner than you think! Openreach have already started the process - You can no longer order analogue lines. That's fine if you're settled in until the switch off date but if you move premises and you currently use an analogue device you will have to upgrade to digital.

What does it mean?
It means that analogue devices will no longer work primarily analogue phone and fax... if you're old enough to remember faxes!

What should you do?
- Upgrade to Ultrafast Full Fibre broadband product. This usually runs over your existing copper cabling and in most cases an engineer will not need to visit your premises.
- You'll also need a phone service.
