Studio dog back in for some summer holiday respite.

The school break completely scrambles the rhythm of life - days blur into each other, routines go out the window and someone is always asking what we’re doing today 😂

Roo has made his feelings clear today. So while the world carries on being busy, we’re enjoying a quiet little pocket of calm - just me, a sleeping dog and the very welcome sound of absolutely nothing.

The wisteria has officially filed a hostile takeover bid 🌿

Today’s first task wasn’t opening the studio… it was finding the stairs.

Still, lovely to have something thriving in this weather 🥵

The rain is relentless today - I have the sound of it all drifting through the studio door which I’ve left wide open, with the pools of lamplight, warm corners and Rufus curled up asleep beside me all inside.

There’s something about being here on days like this - the contrast between the weather outside and the calm inside gives permission to slow down, to listen, to notice. This space has changed so much over time. What began as four walls and a floor has slowly become somewhere that holds me. A place to work, create, think and simply be. The weather may be wild but in here everything feels softer.

Some days fill your cup because of what you do. Other days it’s enough to just sit quietly, wrapped in the warmth of a space you’ve made your own, and listen to the rain.

I had the most beautiful afternoon visiting Rebecca Thomas Robinson’s artist studio as part of Isle of Wight Open Studios this weekend.

It’s like walking into a different world! Her work is thoughtful, lovingly made from vintage fabrics, tactile papers and carefully chosen materials, each piece carrying its own quiet intention and story. There’s such a beautiful balance of sustainability, craft and emotion in what she creates.

Her studio felt immersive and calming; one of those spaces where you want to slow down and take everything in properly. You soak up the sense of wellbeing just from being there. So much texture, colour, history and care held within one room. Really grateful to have spent time in her space today - the kind of visit that stays with you long after you leave.

What a glorious morning! The sun is shining and Roo and I got to meet Jackie - Neuroinclusive.coach - to talk marketing and merch ☀️

Just cycled down to meet the lovely Katy Little Victories and Roo the dog in beautiful Rectory Mansions, Brading for some marketing merch and tips. What a find!

Out of the studio and over on the other side of the island today. I spent the morning meeting the team at Dimbola Museum & Galleries, the former home of pioneering Victorian photographer Julia Margaret Cameron. The building itself is full of character - a striking Victorian house with the most wonderful sea views, now thoughtfully preserved as a museum, gallery and tea room. You can really feel the creative history in the space, with rooms that once hosted artists, writers and thinkers now showcasing Cameron’s iconic work alongside other exhibitions.

On the way back, I made a pit stop to talk printing with a new supplier, then headed to Newport to refuel and catch up on admin. Snacks and Ladders Board Game Café, as always, didn’t disappoint - their homemade pea and mint soup well and truly hit the spot before heading off on the school run.

A different kind of day, but a lovely one ☺️
