Enough teasing, I'm very pleased to announce the coming release of the Fauna Mk.II! ๐ This is a very special pedal to me, read on to find out why.
It will be available to pre-order from the 15th of August 2021, with early access for mailing list subscribers! Link in bio.
So what makes the Fauna Mk.II special? The core original fuzz circuit remains the same, giving the same range of crunch to gnarly velcro as before but with some added features & performance improvements that increase its versatility tenfold. Most noteably, the octave footswitch is now assignable to either the original octave up, a new sub-octave circuit based on a rare vintage pedal, or both in unison!
The new sub-octave is a fully transistor based design, rather than flip-flop chip based like most octavers are. Both are great, but this type of circuit has a distinct character which integrates perfectly with Fauna's fuzz circuit.
Another noteable feature is the Balance control, which still has the same tone function as before, but now also works as a blend control between your dry fuzz signal & octave effects or blends between the octave up & octave down, depending what setting you're in.
The 3rd big addition is the Texture switch which utilizes the new transformer based input section to create an inductive tone circuit that causes high frequencies to saturate earlier. This results in thick chewy fuzz textures & smooth highs especially noticeable with the octave up engaged. This is the same effect you could achieve with the old version by rolling off your guitar's tone control, which still works, but is now easily accessible at the flick of a switch.
You can find out about all the other improvements via the link in our bio!
It's taken a lot of time & hard work to get it right, it's really challenged me as a builder but I couldn't be happier with how it's turned out. This is a pedal I've dreamed about making for years & I'm very excited to be sharing it with you!
I've still got some i's to cross & dots to T before launch day, in the meantime check out previous posts for sound bites & I'm working on some full length demos which will be up in the coming weeks!
