Happy Monday! With the kids back most of our work is done. We are currently in discussion with the Primary School about what we do with the remaining machines we have, but in the meantime if your bubble bursts and you end up having to Zoom School again give us a shout!

Happy Tuesday all! Hope everyone enjoyed the snow yesterday - we did! ⛄⛄❄

We had a question today about using Zoom. This will work fine on Xubuntu, but installing the client app is awkward. The best thing is to use Firefox to browse to the meeting URL and open the meeting directly by using the 'Launch Meeting' button. Don't try and download the client from the link at the bottom. You can check that the add-on for Zoom has been installed from the browser menu. Just remember that your laptop might not have a we**am, although this will not stop you from seeing everyone else.

That's it! If it works correctly then award yourself 20 Dojo points. If you still get stuck then give us a shout 👍

Week 2 update.....Another busy week at LRS HQ.....thank you so much - the laptops etc keep coming. We’ve had a further 10 donations and we’ve managed to send out another 13 refurbished devices to local families. The demand is still out there and we’ll keep going for as long as it takes. Thank you so much for your support - you are all amazing!

Welcome to Laptop Rescue Squad!

With the current lockdown in place until at least the middle of February there is lots of demand for laptops or tablets for remote learning.

Our mini-geek team are taking donated machines, repairing them, installing a lightweight operating system and then offering them to the local schools for use by anyone they have identified as needing a device.

Feel free to share and if you are local to Bottesford and have any old tech (or know a family who needs some) then let us know ...

Friday afternoon quality control in process!

We have now had fifteen laptops, desktops and tablets, almost all of which can be reused, with a further six or seven promised.

This means we can potentially help over TWENTY local families with remote schoolwork - all within a week of the initial appeal.
