The process by which I have decided to launch this little business is directly planted in the experience I had while trying to improve my broadband connection in the very remote location where I live. I had been using satellite broadband which was proving both expensive and slow, it also had some rather tight data limits, so was not really what I needed.
I discovered that I could get a mobile signal in a small area in front of the cottage, my radio savvy brother thinks that my signal is being reflected to me from a rocky hillside somewhere. So I investigated the options available, I managed to find some equipment which has a high gain receiver, which in essence boosts whatever signal is available. I have experimented with a number of options and now have a reasonable broadband download speed of up to 35Mb per second. My phone incidentally just about connects well enough to send a text. So the receiver is really working well.
This has revolutionised what I can do at the property, smart TV for example is now a possibility when it was not before, and for much less. I was paying £50 per month for 50Gb of data and now I am paying £18 for 120Gb, so the installation has paid for its self in 5 months.
So based upon this I am concentrating on setting up and configuring 4G broadband for other people, I have now set up four customers, all who are now enjoying faster speeds and reduced costs. Two of my customers had reasonable BT broadband, but due to their location near a mast are now getting speeds of 100 and 150Mb/second for less per month, so have swapped to a 4G installation.
So if this might interest you, please contact me for a visit and we can establish if this sort of installation would work and what would be required.
If you are just curious, go outside and run a speed test on your phone (https://www.speedtest.net) just to see what might be possible.

With more emphasis on remote working and increased reliance on reliable broadband provision in modern education, not to mention all of the newly available online entertainment options, we are now more than ever before becoming dependant on a useable broadband connection.

I have been exploring the options available to those of us who are lucky enogh to live in a remote environment. Currently there are really only two realistic options, there is Starlink, Elon Musks close orbit satellite system, which is good and delivers but at a cost. For those of us who consider £90 per month too expensive, there is also the option of connecting to a 4G phone mast, this option is currently £28 to £30 per month for an unlimited data plan from EE. There are also cheaper alternative plans for those who do not need unlimitated data.

The installation cost of 4G broadband is largely based on what site specific equipment is required, but a normal installation would be in the region of £300, this includes the price of the equipment and the installation. The equivalent Starlink installation price is £500.

The speed of the connection is entirely based on the distance to and an uncluttered view of a nearby mobile phone mast, speeds can vary enormously, I am getting 30Mb/S where I live but have recently surveyed two locations nearby who are getting 100 and 150 Mb/S respectively, which is by any standard very impressive.
