Have you ever wondered why logbooks are such an essential part of many industries? 🤔

Nope! Probably not.

Well, they serve as a vital record-keeping tool that helps us keep track of important information, such as maintenance schedules, work hours, and equipment usage. 📝 By maintaining accurate logs, we can ensure the safety, compliance, and optimal performance of machinery and equipment. You probably have one in the glove box of your car.

Imagine maintaining a log book of something more exciting and dynamic, like your lived and learning experiences. Examples of the great things you have done to back up your claims and demonstrate credibility. What if it was online and available anytime you need it, like in a performance review, a client meeting, a sales pitch, or pulling together a proposal?

So next time you do something great, remember recording it is important in keeping us on track, and organized and the information can be used to show insights, create compelling content, or hold meaningful conversations – perfect for driving up engagement, winning sales, and showcasing value! 🙌

Do you have your finger on the pulse?

As a leader, it's important to keep track of your team's performance to ensure that they're meeting their goals and objectives. It’s not an easy thing to do and remote working hasn’t made it any easier.

Do you want more than the standard measures of success? Are you looking for some depth to the performance other than the data on a spreadsheet? Are you looking to validate behaviours, momentum, continuity, and sustainability of performances?

Then check out Blu-J. It’s a great place to track your lived experiences to showcase your value. The platform also helps with the traditional ways of measuring success.

Here are a few ways you can do that:

1. Set clear expectations: Clearly define the goals, objectives, and expectations for your team. This will help them understand what is expected of them and how their performance will be measured.

2. Regular check-ins: Schedule regular one-on-one meetings with each team member to discuss their progress, identify any roadblocks, and offer guidance or support where needed.

3. Use performance metrics: Use performance metrics, such as key performance indicators (KPIs), to track progress toward goals. These metrics should be specific, measurable, and aligned with your team's objectives.

4. Celebrate achievements: Celebrate achievements and successes with your team. Recognizing their hard work and accomplishments will help motivate them to continue performing at a high level.

5. Provide constructive feedback: Provide feedback regularly, both positive and constructive, to help your team improve their performance. Make sure your feedback is specific, actionable, and delivered in a respectful and supportive manner.

By following these steps, you can keep track of your team's performance and help them achieve their goals.

How often do you look past the things you have done and reflected on the positive impact they have had?

Far too many people stop at the transaction, like one project completed, another task done, or another goal achieved.

If you spent a few more moments looking past this and into the benefits and value of what you have done, you will find a much more powerful ingredient to use when trying to capture the hearts and minds of your clients. Sounds obvious right, but so few are doing this.

If you look further still and perhaps at a few similar moments, you will find trends, patterns, data, and insights you can share with clients to build rapport, trust, and understanding.

I spent a few moments listening to the awesome PJ Ellis share his definition of High Persuasive Performance and how he uses honesty, transparency, and accessibility to build trust in his team. He also explained how he captures the hearts and minds of his audiences. Take a look.

The top reason for losing a prospect is that a pitch doesn’t stand out well enough. 50% of prospects are lost this way. It happens to the best of us!

The next reason is poor timing at 43% and not having enough personalised information 42%.

Personalisation remains an essential element of a successful pitch, but the biggest issue is not standing out. One way to do this is, to tell a unique story about your value proposition. Not the same old story everyone else is pedaling and you have been telling for the last 5 years. Share a recent example of how you helped a customer achieve something or how you saved their ass last week. This is a good way of making your story relatable and resonates with your prospects.

Stories will be remembered longer than the data, facts, and information you shared. Trigger some emotions in your sales pitch and reduce that missed opportunity.

On average, 20% of monthly outreach calls don’t materialise into a sale. 😮

(I actually think it’s a lot higher and more like 40-50%, but that’s an opinion, unlike the data from the research). This means 45.5 hours each month are going down the drain. A little over one week’s work wasted. 😫

Imagine if you used 1 hour a week, that’s 4 in a month to capture some compelling examples of your triumphs, wins, loses, learning experiences, and lived experiences to name a few, and turned them into sales and marketing collateral, offering up interesting insights, engaging content or meaningful conversations.

Using your lived experiences and turning them into stories can reduce your lost effort by 35%. Who wouldn’t want that?

You’re boring mate!

Lusha claims that 96% of sales professionals need help in the early sales cycle. The top area (30%) reported they wanted help with getting information and data that can be used to start the right conversations.

Are you in this 30%?

Imagine having a portfolio of interesting stories and white-hot examples of the cool things your company has done, primed and ready as ice-breakers, memorable conversations, interesting insights, or compelling stories.

Well, that’s what we do!

We will help you shine a light on the interesting stuff, give you a place to record them in a compelling way and make it really easy to find and use your stories to drive up engagement, increase buy-in and sales and showcase the value you bring.

Proof is powerful, it instills confidence in your clients.

In our ever-evolving industries, a great deal of skill and expertise is required to stay ahead of the game. One of the most important aspects of your job is the ability to gather and use evidence to make informed decisions. Spoiler alert – this is what your clients are doing too.

Firstly, it's important to understand what we mean by evidence. Evidence can come in many forms, including data, statistics, lived experiences, feedback, and testimonials. When used correctly, evidence can provide valuable insights to your clients. Examples of your lived experiences are great forms of content and conversation starters.

One of the most effective ways to use evidence is to turn your customer feedback, examples of the cool things you do, insights from data, and information into compelling collateral, perhaps a blog, a social post, a sales pitch, or an account review. Perfect for driving up engagement, sales, and showcasing value.

Nobody will remember you 😧

“People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel.”

Our advice…

Find the emotion in your story. Find the conflict, the loss, the win, and the triumph over adversity. Find how you saved your client’s ass, how you helped them win the day, and how you made them look good or stopped them from looking foolish…

Where are all of these stories?
Under your nose. You or a colleague are creating stories every day. If you’re unsure where to look, ask yourself this question. Where have you solved a problem for someone? Good stories tend to lurk there.

What should you not do?
Ignore them, forget them, and never share them.

What’s the ROI of a great story? 🤔
👇 👇 👇 👇 👇

I’m in business to encourage people to track their good news stories and convert them into something compelling that will capture the hearts and minds of their audience. A great story is often the difference between a house and a home.

But how do measure the ROI of a great story? How do you track nostalgic tears on an Excel spreadsheet? What’s the KPI translation of a consumer’s hearty laugh or deep exhale of relief? 🤷‍♂️

I don’t know the answer to these questions, but I do know the difference between a transactional client and a consultative, committed one is often a great story. Well-told stories transcend the transactional and can turn customers into clients and prospects into franchisees. The good news is we can measure that stuff.

So, my simple answer is…

The ROI of a great story is increased engagement, buy-in, and sales. 💪 And who doesn't want that?

If you want more of this in your business, tell more stories!

If you are short of stories to tell, give us a call and we will help you find them, for free and show you how to track them with our platform Blu-J.

Yesterday, a clown held the door open for me. It was such a nice jester! 🤡 🤣

A nice bit of feedback from one of my clients. One I’m particularly proud of!

Needless to say, we track all the cool stuff we do here at Blu-J and use the stories and our lived experiences to share insights, build content and instigate conversations. After receiving this Testimonial, we noticed something we wanted to share.

It's obvious to say; one of the biggest contributing factors to the success of my recent projects is a team of people with an open and positive mindset.

However, what's not apparent is kick-starting tasks or projects with this insight at the top of the agenda. In recent times we have purposefully kick-started projects with an opening charter to set expectations on the mindsets we need for the project to be a success and the results have spoken for themselves.

Try it! Set the scene and expectations that a positive, open-minded approach is needed and share some examples of what that looks like. You may just find an opportunity to level up. We did.

A man sued an airline company after it lost his luggage. Sadly, he lost his case. 😳 😝

Have you ever paused for thought and considered how many of the brilliant things you do have gone unnoticed, unrecorded, forgotten, and unused? High-powered, high-value examples of capability are lost to the ages. These examples of Value-telling Content are great insights, content, and value, renowned for driving up engagement, sales, and showcase value.

There is a saying in football…

Don’t leave anything on the pitch. This is code to give everything you’ve got, have no regrets, and don’t keep anything in the tank.

How much are you leaving out there?

What’s the difference between Capability and Credibility?
👇 👇 👇 👇 👇

Answer: Consistency.

Being able to achieve something once shows capability, but being able to do it consistently shows credibility. This is why having a portfolio of your lived experiences and examples of achievements is so powerful.

A bunch of powerful examples of the cool thing you do, like how you import value to your clients has a compounding effect, where you can build some significant momentum. The same way a snowflake can trigger an avalanche.

The CTA – deliberately find and record examples of how you delivered the same outcome for your customers. Most of my clients that do this concentrate on how they delivered their service, how they add value, and go above and beyond.
