This afternoon/evening I have mostly been:

Taking a full backup of an MBR SSD
Cleaning case fans
Restoring the SSD and converting to GPT
Enabling Secure Boot and TPM
Updating the BIOS Firmware (terrifying, as always)
Installing an upgraded, Windows 11 compatible CPU
Upgrading WIndows 10 to WIndows 11
Updating Windows 11

The operation has been successful, albeit long and boring... Now I must eat.

Here's a tip: don't eat Doritos, Wotsits, or Cheetos while gaming. All those orange crumbs get inside and clog up the switches... 😳🤣

Support for Windows 10 ends in October and many PCs cannot upgrade to Windows 11. However, we can fix that for you! There are three main options:

1) Buy a new PC (£££££)
2) Upgrade your current PC (£££)
3) Switch to a different operating system (£)

Buying a new PC can be hard work and it it can take a lot of time to move all your files and reinstall your software so for many people this just becomes a nightmare situation. If you do decide on a new PC then we can help migrate your data.

Upgrading your current PC is a good option - especially if you want to keep your existing files and software and want to stick with Windows. We can carry out the upgrade, makes sure all your data is safe, and then upgrade you to Windows 11.

A final option, and a good choice for those who don't use their computer for much more than emails, web-browsing, and word processing would be to install an alternative operating system such as Linux Mint. This allows a secure operating system on your existing hardware without the upgrade costs.

In all instances, the work we do will make sure that you don't lose any of your files and data.

Had a bit of a nightmare job over these last couple of days. New client's Mac wouldn't boot but they also didn't have a Time Machine backup so trying to get things back up and running without data loss made it somewhat trickier...

Got there in the end and they're over the moon with the result! They have also promised to set up a backup drive lol
