A garage can do a great job and still lose the next one.

The customer comes in for an MOT or service.

The work gets done properly.

They pay.

They leave happy.

Then 11 months later, they book somewhere else because that garage reminded them first.

That is the frustrating part.

Retention is not always about the quality of the repair. Sometimes it is about whether the garage has a process that brings the customer back before they start looking elsewhere.

If MOT reminders, service reminders and follow-up messages rely on someone remembering to send them manually, customers will slip through the gaps.

A garage management system should help you keep that customer journey connected after the car leaves the workshop.

The fix is something we run you through with our custom 1-2-1 demos.

We show you how:
- customer records
- MOT dates
- service reminders
- booking history
- follow-up communication
all work together so more customers come back instead of starting the search again.

We’ve just released a new offer that can save new GDS Express customers over £900 in their first 12 months.

Yes, the saving is nice, but it is not the only reason we’ve built it.

This offer is for garages that already have a card machine, but do not yet have a proper payment process.

After spending time on the ground speaking with garages across the UK and Ireland, the same issue kept coming up:

payments are being taken, but the admin around them is still sitting somewhere else.

A card machine takes the money.

A garage payment process connects the payment back to the invoice, the job and the customer record, so the front desk is not left checking everything afterwards.

That is the bit most garages feel at the end of the day.

The customer has paid, but:

- someone still needs to match the receipt
- someone still needs to make sure accounts has the right information
- someone still needs to know what has actually been paid

That is what the new GDS POS offer is built around.

For new GDS Express customers, the offer includes:

- £99 implementation
- £109 per month subscription
- 6 months free Move 5000 terminal rental
- 100 SMS credits
- 100 address lookups
- GaragePay powered by ClearAccept built into the payment workflow

So if your garage is looking at a new management system and you want payments connected properly from the start, this is worth looking at.

Comment “900” and we’ll send you the full breakdown.

The person checking payments at 5:30 already knows whether your payment process works.

By then, the customer has paid, the car has left and the workshop has moved on.

But if the invoice still looks unpaid, the receipt still needs matching or accounts still needs figures pulling from somewhere else, the job has not really closed.

That is where a simple card payment becomes extra admin.

A proper garage payment process should answer the questions that usually get left until later:

- has the invoice been marked as paid?
- does the payment sit against the right job?
- does the amount match?
- does the front desk have less to check?
- does accounts have the right information?

The payment should follow the invoice, not create another job after the customer has gone.

That is what the GDS POS offer, with GaragePay powered by ClearAccept, is built around.

New GDS Express customers can currently save over £900 in year one.

Most garages do not need another wall planner.

They need the painful parts of the day to stop being rebuilt from scratch every morning.

We have a video where we walk through the six-step process for systemising one part of your workshop, then shows why the real value comes when you repeat it across the rest of the business.

Start with bookings, and it does not just fix bookings.

Once the customer details are right, the vehicle details are right, and the job is set up properly, that information starts helping:

→ the front desk
→ the technicians
→ accounts
→ invoicing
→ customer updates
→ the next booking

That is the point of a good garage management system. It should not just store information.

It should help the whole workshop run from it.

Comment “FIVE” and we’ll send you the video directly.

Outdated thinking: Calling the card machine your garage payment process.

The best-run garages are moving past that.

A terminal can take the money, but it does not automatically mean the invoice is closed, the job is updated, the receipt is matched and accounts has what it needs.

The result is another payment trail someone has to sort later. It usually shows up as:
- invoices still showing unpaid after the customer has left
- receipts and card totals being checked manually later
- owners asking whether yesterday’s payments actually matched

Top 1% garages are not only asking:

“Can we take card?”

They are asking:

“Does the payment close the job properly?”

That is the difference between having a card machine and having a garage payment process.

The GDS POS offer, with GaragePay powered by ClearAccept, is built around that shift.

New GDS Express customers can currently save over £900 in year one.

Comment “900” and we’ll send you the POS offer breakdown.

How much cleaner would your day be if payments, invoices and accounts were part of the same process?

If your front desk is still matching card payments to invoices at the end of the day, it is probably because your payments are sitting outside your garage management system.

The invoice is raised in one place.

The payment is taken somewhere else.

Then someone has to come back later and check that the right customer, job, invoice and payment all line up.

That might not sound like a huge job when it happens once.

But across a full day of MOTs, services, repairs, deposits, payment links and card machine payments, it quickly turns into hours of admin.

And every manual step leaves room for mistakes.

With GDS and GaragePay powered by ClearAccept, the process is much cleaner.

→ The job sheet turns into the invoice
→ The invoice is sent to the customer by email or SMS
→ The payment is taken through GaragePay directly from GDS
→ The amount appears on the terminal without anyone re-keying it
→ Once the customer pays, the payment links back to the correct job and invoice
→ The invoice and payment information can support your accounts process, whether you use Xero, QuickBooks or Sage

A cleaner connected process from job sheet to invoice, payment and accounts.

You're under the car and the phone rings.

You slide out. Wipe your hands. Take the booking. Get back under the car. Three more come in while you're on the phone. There's an MOT reminder you meant to send yesterday. Two customers still haven't paid. One of them's ringing to ask if the car's ready.

You went into this to be the mechanic. You've ended up the receptionist, the credit controller, the marketing department and the invoice chaser too.

By seven o'clock you're catching up on things you meant to do at nine.

You've been telling yourself for a year that next week's when you get on top of it.

Comment SPANNER and we'll show you what a garage looks like when the system's doing the running around instead of you.

This is what the right POS setup should make a garage owner say:

“Payments used to be one of those jobs that followed us around all day.

A customer would pay on the terminal, someone would need to check it against the invoice later, and then we would still have to make sure everything lined up properly for the accounts.

Now, the payment is taken through GaragePay powered by ClearAccept, it links back to the right job in GDS, and the invoice and payment information are where they need to be.

The front desk is not re-keying amounts.

We are not spending time matching payments up at the end of the day. The accountant is getting cleaner information.

And I can actually see what has been paid without asking three people or checking three places.”

That is the point of the GDS Express and GaragePay POS setup.

It is not just about having a card machine on the desk.

It is about taking a job that normally creates extra admin and making it part of the same process your workshop already runs on.

Job done > Invoice raised from the job sheet > Payment taken > Payment linked back to the job > Information ready for the accounts process

Your workshop’s reputation does not start on the ramp.

It starts when the booking is taken.

That first conversation decides whether the job enters the workshop clearly, or whether everyone spends the rest of the day working around missing information.

Full name.
Correct registration.
Fault details.
Email address.
Mobile number.
Vehicle history.
The notes the technician needs before the car arrives.

When front of house captures that properly, the rest of the business has a better chance of moving properly.

→ The customer gets the right reminders.
→ The technician starts with the right information.
→ Back of house is not chasing details.
→ Accounts has a clearer job trail.
→ The owner can see what is happening without having to pull answers out of people.

That is why we put front of house as the first pillar of a modern garage.

It's not just answering the phone. It's the point where customer communication, workshop planning and business visibility all start.

If that first pillar is weak, everything after it has to compensate.

We breakdown how all the best-run garages in the UK and Ireland are doing it in our YouTube video.

Running 1 garage is hard enough.

Adding another site only exposes the weak processes that were already there.

The little things you could keep an eye on in one garage become harder to see when work, people and payments are spread across more than one place.

A payment taken at one site. An invoice checked at another. End-of-day totals that need matching. Family members trying to keep the admin straight while the workshop is still busy.

And suddenly, the question is not just “has the customer paid?”

It is:
→ what has been paid?
→ which invoice it belongs to?
→ whether the amount matches?
→ what accounts needs next?

If you are the only person who can tell whether payments and invoices line up, you have not really got oversight.

You have got another job.

That is the difference between taking payments and having payment visibility.

The GDS POS offer, with GaragePay powered by ClearAccept, is built for garages that want payments to sit with the invoice, not in a separate trail to sort later.

New GDS Express customers can currently save over £900 in year one.
