Over the summer, while things might be a little quieter at work (fingers crossed! π€), Iβm going to share some simple tips to help us think about inclusivity in the workplace β whether for our colleagues, customers, or both.
Tip #3: Share any new info or agenda's before meetings
It can be daunting and overwhelming to try and process new information whilst listening, lipreading, watching sign language interpreters or reading captions.
By sharing agenda's or sharing any new information that will be discussed in meetings beforehand gives the deaf person time to process it prior to meetings.
This small action helps ensure they can focus on the information you are sharing at the meeting without feeling overwhelmed
Why does it matter? Around 1 in 5 people experience some form of hearing loss, and small adjustments like this can make a significant difference to their experience in the workplace
A small change. A big impact. π‘
If you'd like me to deliver a deaf inclusion session at your workplace or deliver a bespoke BSL course, I'd love to hear from you π
