Empatheyes Update – On the Road to

Before we head off to Salt Lake City for , we wanted to share a quick update on what’s been keeping us so busy – and energised!

Over the past year, we’ve continued delivering Empatheyes VR training to Allied Health Professionals, Teachers, Businesses, and Healthcare Staff across NI. These immersive, CPD-accredited sessions led by eye clinicians and experienced support staff are designed to help professionals understand the lived experience of vision impairment and implement meaningful strategies in their work.

To date, we’ve trained over 700 people in 2024/25 alone contributing to long-term impact through increased knowledge and understanding.

We're especially excited to be working with the Regional Orthoptist Team to roll out VR training in Special Education Schools which we launched this week! Along the way, we’ve even had the opportunity to engage with MLAs and Lord Mayors, who are impressed by the Empatheyes experience.

We’re also proud to welcome two new charity partners in England - Royal School for Blind Children and Moor Vision - who will now be delivering training, raising awareness and advocating for the inclusion of children with vision impairment.

A special thank you to Derry City & Strabane District Council for inviting us to deliver Empatheyes VR training to Councillors - another great example of a Visually Aware City in action.

It’s been a busy, rewarding time and there’s much more to come.

We absolutely love what we do!

It’s been a fantastic week for the Empatheyes team, filled with exciting events, demonstrations, and new collaborations!

We were honored to attend the AHP Federation event "Doing What Matters Most" in the Long Gallery at Stormont, where our brilliant Orthoptist Rebecca showcased our innovative solution for understanding vision impairment. She had the opportunity to engage with colleagues and MLAs, including Nuala McAllister (Alliance) and Robbie Butler (Chair of the VI All-Party Working Group) where the feedback was overwhelmingly positive!

Later in the week, we joined the RNIB Tech Fair in Lisburn, where our fantastic team member Laura demonstrated Empatheyes to many attendees, including Lord Mayor of Lisburn, Kurtis Dickson. It was incredible to see so much interest in how immersive learning can enhance awareness and understanding of vision impairment.

In between these events, we've been busy building exciting partnerships with charities, working together to expand the impact of Empatheyes Immersive Learning. And to top it all off—we’re thrilled to confirm that we'll be attending ARVO 2024 in Salt Lake City!

A huge thank you to everyone who has engaged with us this week. We can’t wait to see what’s next!

We’re Back with Big News!

It’s been a while since our last update, but we’ve been incredibly busy making an impact! From training health professionals across NI’s trusts to working in schools and even raising awareness with Google staff in Dublin alongside Fighting Blindness—it’s been non-stop!

We’ve also had the pleasure of delivering our unique CPD Accredited training to future Social Care workers at Belfast Met, providing a VR experience for tourism professionals at Open Arts' Inclusive Tourism Event at the Lyric Theatre, and supporting the NI Science Festival with Queen’s University Belfast Intersim.

The feedback has been amazing, and we’re so proud of the impact we’re making! But we’re not stopping there… we have some BIG charity partnership reveals coming soon!

Stay tuned as we continue working towards a more inclusive world by raising awareness of visual impairment. Watch this space!
