One small SEO habit that's worth doing.

Every image you upload to your website has a file name. Most people leave it as whatever their phone or camera assigned it, something like IMG_4872.jpg.

Google can now recognise a lot about what's in an image using AI, but descriptive file names and alt text still provide valuable context. Rather than uploading IMG_4872.jpg, rename it to something relevant, such as belfast-city-centre-cafe-interior.jpg.

It only takes a few seconds and helps search engines better understand your images and the content of your page.

On its own, this won't transform your rankings overnight, but combined with other SEO best practices, it's one of many small improvements that can contribute to better visibility in search results.

The wait is over, WordPress 7.0 officially launched yesterday (May 20) after a short delay focused on improving stability and performance.

This is one of the biggest WordPress updates we’ve seen in years, pushing the platform further beyond a traditional CMS and into a much more powerful web application framework.

Here’s what you need to know 👇

🤖 Native AI Infrastructure
WordPress 7.0 introduces the new WP AI Client and Connectors API, giving developers a standardised way to integrate AI providers like OpenAI, Anthropic and Google directly into WordPress workflows.

🎨 Admin & Editor Refresh
The update includes smoother admin transitions, improved revision comparisons, refreshed data views, and enhanced block editing experiences.

⚡ Faster Uploads & Better Performance
WordPress 7.0 introduces more client-side media processing, helping reduce server load and improve upload efficiency.

🧩 Improved Design & Developer Tools
New blocks, responsive layout improvements, expanded pattern editing, and updated developer APIs give more flexibility for modern website builds.

⚠️ CRITICAL CHECK BEFORE UPDATING

WordPress 7.0 requires the minimum PHP requirement to PHP 7.4.

If your website is still running PHP 7.2 or 7.3, the update may not be available or could cause compatibility issues.

(We’d strongly recommend PHP 8.2 or 8.3 for best performance and security.)
