Well, what a week in the SEO world. AI continues to take the online world by storm with GPT4 taking up the most airtime online, and midjourney a close second.

I reckon that within a year we'll be able to have gpt 4 write an engaging film script and have midjourney or some other new player to completely CGI in a whole fairly realistic looking film.

Mentioning this only because of the computing power that would take. Astonishing, but to be expected.

The other big news is that openai are releasing plugins to connect into REAL-TIME browser access to current net content and for connecting into some amazing services.

Full Wolfram functionality anyone? Bloody hell, the possibilities are endless. Genuine disruptive technology that first adopters are going to leverage to the max.

Really, quite, something. The potential is epic.

Listen up, folks! 🔊 It's time to talk about the top five mistakes that are still running rampant in business listings in 2023. If you want to optimize your profile and start ranking for those juicy keywords + location, pay attention and take notes. 📝

First off, let's talk about the deadly sin of including too many secondary services. 🚫 Trust me, it will hurt your ranking and de-optimize your profile faster than you can say "SEO." Stick to your main services, and make sure your profile is optimized for your key offerings. 💪

Number two on the hit list is choosing a primary category that doesn't rank in the top 5. 😱 Are you really gonna limit your ability to rank for all relevant keywords + location like that? Wake up and smell the coffee, my friends. ☕ Review your goals and choose a relevant primary category that will help you dominate the search results. 🔝

Now, I know some of you may think that one primary category is enough, but listen up. Unless you've got the location authority and brand recognition of a mega-corporation, most businesses will benefit from including secondary categories. Don't be lazy, people. Do your due diligence and include those secondary categories. 💼

Mistake number four is adding numerous additional business categories without any relevant content or service pages. 🙅‍♀️ Are you trying to shoot yourself in the foot here? Don't do it, folks. Make sure your profile is optimized and relevant to your offerings. 👍

Last but not least, we've got social media listings without a logo, mismatched description, no posts, incorrect business name or details, and no location added to posts. Come on, people. Do I really need to spell this out? Get your act together and make sure your social media listings are on point. 🤦‍♂️

And one more thing, folks. Creating dozens of location pages with no traffic is a waste of time. Instead, focus on creating location pages that accurately reflect your service area and include the necessary elements based on the top 2 results for keyword + location. 📍

So there you have it, folks. Don't rush into CTR campaigns without first addressing these basic issues. Remember to have patience and invest in a long-term vision. Otherwise, you'll end up with a "burned list." 🔥 Cheers! 🥂

Well, there it is straight from Google Liason (where Sullivan works). They don't care if you use AI content as long as it's serving the best content to real people. It's ALL about the user experience.

My opinion? Call me paranoid, I'll call my self conservative (with a small C ) but if I use AI for content at all I'm still going to run it through other tools for general content off site, through a real person if it's going anywhere near the website or google profile, and through an human expert in the field if it's going on the website.

Anyways, all bets are off now for small and medium business owners. Every local business owner in the world now has access to some of the best optimised content you're ever going to find. For free - for now.

Run for your rankings. Learn how to use it to promote your business more cheaply and WAY more effectively. Do it as soon as you can. You can now easily double the value of your online marketing spend if you know how to use it.

But be careful with it. I've already seen it spit out the biggest load of bo****ks that on it's face looked absolutely convincing. A bit like the press these days, but that's another story.

Here's the pitch/not pitch.....

I'm starting a small network of seo-keen small business owners if you're interested. My qualification to facilitate that is making a living for ten years with SEO for my own businesses, a few long-term clients and some partnerships in other local businesses.

These days Map work tied with really well structured website and on-page work is essential. If you want to take it further and go for total domination of page one locally, that can be done too, but takes more time and a few more new learning curves. So we'll be talking about on page optimisation and fine-tuning your content for sure.

Links are useless if your on page is not top-notch. When you really get it dialled in though, easy links can be used to boost it and the network will make that easy. You see, the, potential to help each other with a local network of local business owners is a missed opportunity. We will support each other's businesses and share experiences at the same time.

Just think of the engagement signals a well-done round-robin of searches on the maps could do for your maps listing. Now imagine that done regularly from different towns around you from a network of other people that are helping you. Google loves that data. I mean, it really, really loves it. That's the kind of information you will hear in the network.

But rocket science, it really ain't. Truly. It isn't.

Organisation, looking at the data, tracking what you do and keeping your eyes open is all you need, not panicking helps too when the juggling for position moves again.

There is going to be a monthly charge for it. I could give it all away for free, and I will be giving a lot of information for free for sure, but the little things that make all the difference will be kept for people who have something to lose if they don't put what they get into action. You have too have some skin in the game and you HAVE to agree to support the other members of the network.

So yes, there will be a charge. £30 a month, which you can cancel at any time and get a full refund the last payment without question.

You could have access to some pro level reporting tools to track keywords, keep their history, suggestions on what to do to improve your rankings, 'hot-seats' where your site is audited and you come out with a new, keyword-researched, optimised home page content complete with html mark-up. training sessions on what schema mark-up and how to do it, excel templates to keep track of what you are doing, news of the latest SEO tests being run by the pros, etc, etc, etc

I should say, it probably won't be on facebook so that we can talk openly and freely with each other . Possibly discord, although I'm not keen on the interface and open to suggestions on another platform.

If you're interested in that please comment below and include what are the two most important SEO related things you want to hear about.

Who knows you might even learn how to use AI to massively increase your productivity online. I know am, and so as soon as I stop cocking it up quite as much as I am at the moment, so will you. You'll get the shortcuts and prompts I'm learning about, because it's ALL about the prompts!

Remember, comment below or you won't hear anything about it again. You'll forget about it in ten minutes and then your business will be poorer, you won't have money for nice things in life (like a warm house, or these days who knows, pudding with every meal if you want it) and the stress of it all will kill your s*x life.

Bit of a no-brainer isn't it really, learn how to use tools and automation to amplify the latest SEO strategies or lose your s*x life.

Comment, tell me what want to hear about when the network starts.

A word to the wise:

Please don't use Chat GPT content on your site without some major rewrites at the very least. Reports of new sites that are built solely with ChatGPT or other AI writers being deindexed. I can't confirm this because I have not tested it.

But, if AI can make it I have too presume that big G can tell too. Safest that way. Don't risk your site with unedited ChatGPT content.

There are ways of using it and using it well, but that's a story for another post. If anyone wants it that is. 🧐
