When Michael “CAVS” Cavanagh isn’t touring the world as drummer of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, he’s holed up in a Melbourne rehearsal studio preparing his score for Chirstopher Nolan’s Memento. At least that was the case when we caught up with him recently. Released 26 years ago, Nolan’s mind-bending puzzle of a film, starring Melbourne’s own Guy Pearce, is the product of obsessive attention to detail. CAVS – as anyone who’s seen him perform knows – is just the person for the job.

For this special Hear My Eyes edition of Memento, CAVS will perform his unique score live and solo, using two drumkits and a whole of lot of electronic percussion. Only at Hamer Hall this August at Arts Centre Melbourne.
