Babz Media Limited was fined £45,500 after failing to register with the Environment Agency and a producer recycling scheme. Northern Compliance Ltd was ordered to pay £50,900 in compensation after failing to meet its household WEEE financing obligations.

These are among the warning signs listed by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), which also reports that 𝟴𝟱% 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗺 𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹.

The latest 𝘜𝘒 𝘎𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘊𝘺𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝘚𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴 𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘺 shows that preparation remains uneven, especially when it comes to cyber-related continuity planning.

Only 33% of businesses and 20% of charities reported having a business continuity plan that covered cyber security.

Among small businesses, the figure fell from 53% in 2024/2025 to 44% in 2025/2026. Formal cyber security policies also dropped among small businesses, from 59% to 52%.
