Lithium Batteries , are they damaging controllers with their higher fully charged voltage ? ( not all models actually charge higher than 28 volts, GEL/AGM are top rated at 28 volts. )

In a Nutshell no, however let's take a example situration ,

A sample lithium battery fully charges at DC 29.4 volts, now there's is a potential for the higher voltage to damage a controller however that depends on the controller in question...

Please note : This is based on my experience and expermention...

Capacitors inside the controller are rated DC 35v absolute max voltage rating ...

If there is a voltage spike high enough then they going to be weakened or at worse will pop their heads ( go bang) ..

I cant mention brands here so please don't ask...

So how do you check and safeguard your mobility scooter ? firstly check the manufacturer of the brand, model .. if its an older model check the battery supplier, what's the fully charge voltage ? is this information on your charger ?.

I have seen some fully charge as high dc 31.5 volts. Just be aware of this ...

More S-Drive madness, some older models , black cases , green circuit board will do 9 flashes for a brake fault... not 5 flashes as per standard ..

Back on the S-Drives controllers, if you brought a replacement S drive and you discover some low down settings are different for example , short travel pot, where the replacement only requires a faction of a turn compared to your old one ,,,don't despair, I can match the old one to the new one in most cases even if the old controller is badly damaged.

Component cost for repairs are fairly stable , its the post charges that are causing me problems, R.S from £3.50 to over £8 per order. Another company use to charge £12 from abroad now its £24 + vat..

If you're trying to get your Mobility Scooter to work for example , you turn it on , no flashing status light , beeping . so in theory no problem so why wont it work, well one reason can be the controller is damaged in that area of error reporting ...
One trick that can work is to leave the scooter turned on, now disconnect a battery lead , reconnect the lead and watch, maybe a spark here , now do you get a idea of the problem ?either beeping or a flashing status light ..

did this work for you ? so how come , well the controller for starters may not be resetting so stuck in a loop unable to report any errors. As you turn on key it causes the controller to reset, restarts itself by reconnecting power lead you cause the controller to reset, start of the beginning of its operation cycle.

Hair , whether its animal or human , it can destroy your axle or front wheel bearings , once it enters a sealed bearing it can stripped the internal lubricate causing the bearing to fail. If the gearbox uses a roller bearing , Hair entangled will cause the gearbox grease or oil to leak via a damaged seal.

Make sure it removed after a service or a regular check up.. front and back.

From experience , please stay away from these types of brushes , they simply melt in the brush holder ..
