Our local MP, Simon Fell, visited our new office at Furness Gate earlier this month to learn about Sterling, our dedicated staff and our work as an External Lottery Manager.
It was great to welcome Simon to our new office - thank you for visiting!
If you don’t work there, Furness Business Park is something that you might only have ever driven past on your way in and out of Barrow. But, yet again, I have left astounded after stopping in on a local business there.
Richard founded Sterling Lotteries at his parent’s kitchen table just down the road from where 50 employees are now at work. It is now a thriving business, operating lotteries for some of the biggest and best known charities in the UK for over 40 years, having raised over £600million for over 550 of them and their good causes in the process, including local ones such as St Mary’s Hospice.
This is a really remarkable achievement - miles away from shipbuilding and advanced manufacturing, but yet truly leaders in their field, offering full stack software development, call lines, cheque processing, and innovating with their charity partners’ needs. It’s rare to see a business that does it all - but Sterling do.
Huge thanks to Richard for inviting me in, and for sharing Sterling’s story.
