📱💥 This iPhone 17 Pro Max was only a few weeks old...

A quick trip in the car turned into a nightmare when it slipped off the MagSafe mount, flew out of the window at around 50 mph, and hit the road.

At first glance, it looks beyond saving... but appearances can be deceiving.

The surprising part? The logic board still appears to be alive. 👀

This is what happens when you send e-waste to the tip. The UK sends it to India because it's too expensive to recycle properly in the UK. All the chemicals just end up down the normal drains and back into the water supply. This is not AI.

This Samsung TV has a failed backlight, which is an incredibly common fault. The parts themselves aren't particularly expensive, but the real cost is the time involved. Repairs like this are difficult to quote because you never know what you'll find once you get inside. The last few I've repaired have taken almost a full week of work.

When faced with a repair like this, many people have two choices: spend around £300 repairing an older TV that could eventually develop another fault, or put that money towards a new one. For most people, the decision is understandable.

Instead of sending this TV to landfill and creating more unnecessary e-waste, my customer kindly offered it to me so I could attempt the repair in my own time and hopefully bring it back to life. That's a fantastic example of reusing rather than throwing things away.

As a thank you, I've offered them a discount on any future repairs. If it's something small, like a phone screen replacement, I'll even fit it free of charge.

We really need to move back towards a repair-and-reuse mindset. Too many perfectly repairable devices end up as waste simply because they're not economical for the original owner to fix. Every device we save from landfill is a small step in the right direction.

One rule in computing: never ever ever ever let someone remote access your computer. It's always 99.9 per cent a scam. When I do remote support, it's people who have known me personally for years, and we use a one-time access code. Scammers are the worst of the worst in my eyes. This pre-built system is one of the most interesting projects I've worked on so far. pc bootloops will stay on for 5 mins then shut off. I managed to figure out that the motherboard needs an extra power cable for Thunderbolt, and the PSU was not in the best shape. But still, the error kept happening until I saw the SSD type. These are well. Known for controller fails and lo and behold it is.
