The graphic design industry is facing constant updates, challenges and change of direction. We've seen that recently, AI is the spearhead of this.

Using AI in graphic design certainly splits opinion. There's opportunity for it to be used as a handy tool, but we believe that it needs to be kept far away from the heart of the creative process.

When it comes to SEO, there are tips and tricks out there to improve your rankings, fast.

Whilst this sounds good, the methods used are usually against Webmaster Guidelines and are often referred to as 'Black Hat SEO Techniques'. If you go against search engines' guidelines, you can be heavily penalised in search engines, and even blacklisted. This means that your site could lose all visibility from search engines.

These spam methods aren't acceptable as a business model - you're risking the online presence of your company.

Your SEO needs to be by the book to protect your business' online presence.

Just a quick heads-up in case you missed it! Back on Sunday, Google's 'Parasite SEO' rules kicked in.

Parasite SEO is when a website with low domain authority publishes its content on a website with high domain authority.

The website with high domain authority benefits from this, as they will rank well for the content and receive more revenue with larger amounts of visitors landing on the site.

Low domain authority websites benefit from this, as they receive a backlink from the high domain authority website, improving their backlink profile and overall authority.

Google have clamped down on this as part of their Helpful Content Update, as they want websites to produce their own unique, informative content that is, you guessed it, helpful to users.

Some Google Ads related news: any low-activity keywords will be paused automatically in your account in June. This means that if any keywords haven't collected any impressions in the last 13 months, you may see them paused.

Of course, you can override this and unpause them, but Google will only give you 3 more months to get impressions on the keywords before pausing them again.

It does matter that any keywords you've forgotten about are paused, as poor-performing keywords can contribute to a lower account quality score.

Google have confirmed that if your website serves 503 status codes on a frequent basis, this can reduce crawling.

Our translation:
You’ll see 503 status codes if the server that your website is on is either too busy, or it’s temporarily down for maintenance. If Google sees this on a frequent basis, they’ll stop ‘crawling’ your site as often, which means that they will visit it less. If they stop looking as regularly, they won’t see updates that you make, and add it to their database.

The lesson from this? Your website needs to be hosted on a reliable server. If your website serves these 503 status codes this will make it incredibly difficult to make the most of SEO techniques on your website.
