Comparing outdoor LED screen quotes? Three specs tell you what you are actually being offered: pixel pitch, sunlight brightness and the weather rating.
With autumn rain here and low winter sun on the way, these are the ones that decide whether a screen stays readable and keeps working. Here is how we specify our own outdoor video walls.
1. Pixel pitch
This sets the image quality you get. Our outdoor modules come in pitches from 10mm down to 1.25mm, so ask which pitch the quote uses.
2. Brightness
This decides whether the picture holds up in direct sunlight. We build for brightness levels in excess of 7500, with drivers that show a wider spectrum of colour at every brightness level.
3. Weather rating
Our outdoor screens are built to IP65 or IP67, fully waterproof and protected against dust and rain year round. Check the rating is actually stated on the quote.
One more worth asking about if the screen faces a street or a crowd: viewing angle. Our module construction gives very wide horizontal and vertical angles.
A quote that names its pitch, brightness and IP rating can be compared properly. One that leaves them out is worth questioning.
