MuchLoved

MuchLoved MuchLoved is the leading in-memory platform, helping you create a beautiful tribute website to remember your loved one and fundraise in their memory.

Light a candle and add stories, photos, music, videos to celebrate their life, and so much more. Established by Jonathan Davies in 2000 after the death of his brother and mother, MuchLoved hosts memorial websites on behalf of over 100,000 people, which is both an immense privilege and responsibility and we hope that you will consider joining our growing and supportive community. The best way to see how your memorial site will look is simply to Create a Tribute - this is very easy to do and only takes a couple of minutes. You can personalise the design, add memories, photos, music and video as well as invite friends & family to visit and contribute. At all times you retain total control over privacy and postings, plus your site is hosted online in perpetuity so that you can keep it as both a loving and a lasting tribute. The tributes are here to help you as you try to cope with the pain of loss. They help you and your family and friends to express your grief, share your special memories and commemorate your loved one together, regardless of the time of day or where you live. We believe there is often a sense of reserve that accompanies death which can make grieving worse. It is almost as though death is unnatural, something best forgotten. We reject such a taboo and believe that positive recognition of loss and mutual support are key parts of grieving. You can find out more about the history of MuchLoved on our website, or please do get in touch if you have any questions. We are extremely grateful to all our supporting organisations; it is because of them that it is free for you to create and keep your special tribute site.

Baby Loss Awareness Week culminates with the global “Wave of Light” on 15th October, which is also a globally recognised event.

We invite you to join other families across the world by lighting a candle at 7pm local time and leaving it burning for at least one hour to remember all babies that have died too soon.
To join the virtual Wave of Light, take a photo of your candle and post it to Facebook
or Instagram using at 7pm local time.

Wherever you do this, you will be joining a global ‘Wave of Light’ in memory of all the babies who lit up our lives for such a short time.

You can also light a candle on your MuchLoved tribute page.

World Mental Health Day is a great opportunity for us to come together to talk about mental health and show everyone that is matter.

Talk about anything! It doesn’t have to be about mental health. Talking about anything and building relationships is good for your mental health.

You can access Grief Chat for free via our MuchLoved page.

Most people expect to be very upset or distressed when someone close to them has died. What takes many people by surprise is how strong the emotions can be, how they can change very quickly, and how long they last. People around you may seem to think you should be ‘back to normal’ after a few weeks or months. You might appear to be your usual self to other people, but you know that on the inside, you’re not even sure what normal is anymore.

Everyone grieves in a way that is unique to them and their relationship with the person who has died. Well-intentioned people may say to you, ‘Time is a great healer.’ Sometimes, however, it can seem that life is more difficult as the weeks and months go by.

We know that no-one can understand exactly what your loss feels like to you. But we do understand that it’s sometimes easier to talk to someone outside of your friends and family about grief and the impact of bereavement of your life. We want to improve your access to bereavement care and this is why we offer GriefChat's instant chat support.

GriefChat was created by bereavement experts and you can chat directly to a specially trained bereavement counsellor. GriefChat professional counsellors are experienced in supporting bereaved people and will listen to your story, explore how your grief is affecting you and help you to find any additional support you might need, including referral into other specialist bereavement services.

You can remain anonymous or provide your name, whichever you prefer. It is a completely free service and is available to you Monday to Friday, 9am-9pm or by email out of these hours.

At MuchLoved, we believe that when someone we love dies, their memory can continue to be a precious part of our lives.

MuchLoved gives families and friends a place to create a lasting online tribute - a space to share memories, stories, photographs and messages, and to celebrate the life of someone special.

Because while we can’t hold on to someone forever, *we can hold on to the love, memories and moments that made them who they were.*

Create a lasting tribute. Keep their memory close. 💜

On National Poetry Day, we’re asking which poems speak to you. Share your favourites in the comments — we’d love to hear them.

"You Don't Just Lose Someone Once" by Donna Ashworth

You lose them over and over,
sometimes many times a day.
When the loss, momentarily forgotten,
creeps up,
and attacks you from behind.
Fresh waves of grief as the realisation hits home,
they are gone.
Again.
You don’t just lose someone once,
you lose them every time you open your eyes to a new dawn,
and as you awaken,
so does your memory,
so does the jolting bolt of lightning that rips into your heart,
they are gone.
Again.
Losing someone is a journey,
not a one-off.
There is no end to the loss,
there is only a learned skill on how to stay afloat,
when it washes over.
Be kind to those who are sailing this stormy sea,
they have a journey ahead of them,
and a daily shock to the system each time they realise,
they are gone,
Again.
You don’t just lose someone once,
you lose them every day,
for a lifetime.

Life is made richer by the people who walk alongside us — those who support us, inspire us, make us smile, and leave a lasting mark on our hearts.

Taking time to appreciate them while they're with us, and remembering them when they're gone, helps keep those connections alive.

At MuchLoved, we believe every life deserves to be celebrated. Tribute pages provide a special place to share memories, photos and messages, giving family and friends a way to honour the people who have made such a difference in their lives.

Today, take a moment to tell someone you're grateful for them — or remember someone whose impact you'll never forget. 💜
