We had the pleasure of working alongside the fantastic staff and volunteers at Kempton Steam Museum to create a brand-new suite of curriculum-linked and teacher-informed learning resources for primary schools.

Home to the world’s largest working triple-expansion steam engine, Kempton has an incredible story to tell about engineering, clean water and the power that helped shape modern London. Together, we developed four engaging KS1 and KS2 learning packs that bring these stories to life through hands-on activities, interactive presentations and classroom resources linked to the National Curriculum.

It was a real privilege to help make this remarkable heritage more accessible for teachers, pupils and families, and to support the museum in inspiring the next generation of engineers, scientists and curious minds.

Over the last few months, we've not been able to spend as much time at our studio as we'd have liked. This is mainly due to moving house and, quite honestly, we hadn't realised just how much stuff we'd managed to collect over the years! 📦😅
Now that we're finally getting settled and all those boxes have (mostly!) been unpacked or stashed away, we're looking forward to spending much more time at our studio at Middleport Pottery

In the meantime, don't forget you can still shop our full range online at https://www.muddypublishing.com or https://www.mattbuckingham.co.uk

Thanks for bearing with us while life got a little chaotic – we're excited to get back to doing what we love!

Really proud to see our picture book ‘Quack Quack Take Two Steps Back’ created for the Canal & River Trust being interpreted for the stage by CHICKENSHED. It’s fantastic that the water safety message of staying safe by the water is reaching even more audiences in new, engaging and participatory ways.

We've recently been involved in a fantastic project run by Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Historic England who are restoring the unique Wedgwood Institute building in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent. As part of this project, we have worked with Partners in Creative Learning (PiCL), along with students from Haywood Academy who created cyanotype prints with artist - designed their own typeface with - using work that was created by students in workshops with illustrator Becky Bell .pineapples. All work was inspired by their local town and community. We took these designs and transformed them into a series of window graphics to embellish the 10 windows on Queen Street, while the building is undergoing restoration. These designs tell the story of the town's history and its civic pride.

This work forms part of the Cascade project, run by Partners in Creative Learning (PiCL) and funded by Stoke Creates and the Character & Arts Foundation.

We loved being involved in the interactive children’s story quest trail for the National Literacy Trust in Stoke-on-Trent and Stoke-on-Trent City Council as part of the city’s celebrations. Created for children aged 7+, the trail combines literacy, local history, and adventure — encouraging young readers to explore Stoke-on-Trent’s heritage through its statues, monuments, and historic landmarks.
Trails are free to collect from the City Central Library in Hanley.
Matt will also be delivering a special illustration workshop at City Central Library tomorrow (Friday 29th May) from 10:00am–12:00pm
