Not every council requires a written trip record. But a lot still do, and if yours does, missing entries can cause problems at renewal.

Even if it's not required, many experienced drivers keep their own log anyway. Mileage for tax purposes. Trip history if there's ever a complaint. Hours for insurance queries. Takes two minutes at the end of a shift. Worth it.
