This is an incredibly difficult time for college students across the country. To help, my team at Edquity partnered up with student editors to launch their COVID Student Support Guides, which are aimed at helping college students navigate emergencies during the COVID-19 crisis. Students can visit the site today to find resources that can help them meet their basic needs, as well as timely information, like which foods are shelf-stable, how to cope with social distancing, and more.

"Just three days after the tornadoes hit, Edquity began supporting Dallas students. In barely a week we processed over 250 applications—it took students less than 5 minutes to apply, under 24 hours to receive a decision, and they could get the funds transmitted to their bank account in no more than 48 hours. We distributed more $70,000 in assistance to students who need it most: 3 in 4 recipients are housing insecure, and almost 1 in 3 has a young child."

These outcomes prove the necessity of Emergency Aid funds in colleges, where basic needs insecurity is a real problem. Our team at Edquity has been working hard to automate Emergency Aid these past months and I am so proud of our results!

We need to keep advocating for structural policy reforms to support students. We also need creative solutions, including from tech.
