Are you wondering what to do with your Windows 10 computer?

Let me help.

You have a few options:

1. Do nothing! Your computer will still work although it will gradually become more vulnerable to malware and viruses.

2. Sign up to the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program for Windows 10. For most people these are free for the next 12 months. You should see an option to enroll in the Windows Update page in settings.

3. Install Linux. This can be a great option - it's free, it works well even with older computers and it's very customisable. However, some apps you use on Windows may not be available, printers, for example, can be harder to install, and there is a learning curve. It's not as user friendly as Windows for beginners.

Would anyone be interested in basic computer skills lessons? I'm considering running some small classes covering things like:

• Knowledge of computer parts, e.g. mouse, USB port, earphone jack and camera
• Confidence in navigating around in PCs and mobile devices
• Opening and closing files and applications
• Basic internet browsing
• Basic email usage i.e. sign in, receiving and replying
• Creating, saving and printing documents and spreadsheets
• Understanding storage concepts like files, folders and compression
• Understanding basic network concepts like connection, uploading and downloading
• Understanding security risks like malware, file security and online security
• Adjusting settings in PCs and mobile devices
• Use of social media networks like Facebook and Instagram
• Use of online collaboration tools like video calls, IM and online calendars
• Use of cloud storage and synchronisation

The plan would be for small groups to meet somewhere convenient for hour sessions. The weekly topics would be posted so you only need to attend the classes you're interested in.

There would be a small charge.

I have 24 years experience teaching Information Technology and Computing to teenagers and adults.

I can also run some more advanced classes for anyone who want to learn to use, for example, Excel or Photoshop.
