A friend once told me, âWhat difference does it make if itâs created by AI? If people enjoy it, laugh at it, or find it entertaining, isnât that all that matters?â
â
And I get that. There isnât anything inherently wrong with AI creating things that are funny, creative, or genuinely useful.
â
But I think thereâs a bigger issue.
The more we normalize AI-generated content without questioning it, the more we train ourselves to stop telling the difference between whatâs real and whatâs synthetic. At first, it seems harmless. Eventually, that habit could make us far more vulnerable.
â
Weâre already seeing AI used to clone faces and voices, impersonate people, manipulate families, scam loved ones, and extort money. As this technology gets better, distinguishing reality from fabrication wonât just be an interesting skill, it will be a necessity.
â
AI itself isnât the enemy. Losing our ability to recognize whatâs real might be.
