December newsletter : (with french cheese in it)
Over the past few months, Club Cantar has expanded its horizons with, for example, the addition of Korean and Taiwanese sound
mixers. And we are also gaining a local subscriber base, such as rental companies that see Club Cantar as an organisation allowing
them to offer recorders for hire with peace of mind.
Mixers who once considered selling their equipment are now thinking twice, and among those who did sell, some are now looking for second-hand CantarX3 or CantarMini.
We see all this as proof of the value of Club Cantar and what it brings to the Cantar user community. This encourages us and
strengthens our commitment to continuing this endeavor initiated by Gilles Deshays with the help of many, together with you.
# Zoom meeting on January 17th, 2026 :
With more than 150 subscribers, it appears that Club Cantar is a real success. Club Cantar is now running smoothly, with more and more repairs being carried out by Gilles and technical support provided by Frédéric Mangeat and Pascal Grillere. Subscribers now instinctively contact us, certain that we will respond as quickly as possible. We’ll soon send every subscribers , Cantar owners and users a special Zoom meeting invitation where we will discuss Club Cantar, see what has been achieved and explore how we can continue to celebrate the recorders we love.
Together with Stéphane Bucher, CAS, Peter Barber from Atomos, Ryan Petersen and Michael Paul from Analog Waves, Peter Schneider from Gotham, we hope many of you will join

With 156 subscribers, The Club Cantar received €128,000.00 over the course of the passing year. Of these 156 subscribers, 82 paid for a second machine and 40% of those paid for three or more machines. Many thanks to everyone.
Today, after deducting operating costs, technical support costs, research costs and spare parts purchases, we are left with 25% of this amount, which allows us to run the Club Cantar and to consider new initiatives without any problem until the new annual membership fees for 2026 are received.
# Options
Over the past few months, each subscription purchased came with a demo licence key, unlocking all six options for a period of six months.
We have decided to renew this offer for everyone who renews their subscription, with a loan licence key for the entire duration of this
new one-year subscription.
For some of you, the current 6-month demo period may end before the end of the current membership term. We have of course taken note of everyone's expiry dates and will send you a free demo option key to cover the end of the membership period.
Despite our best efforts, we may overlook some renewals... Please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected]
Remember that technical documentation and user manuals for the various options are available at https://www.clubcantar.com/documentation/

# Latest news about Aaton Digital’s liquidation proceedings:
On September 23rd, 2025 the judicial liquidation proceedings against Aaton Digital for insolvency has been closed. Creditors can no longer assert their claims via the court-appointed liquidator or take legal action against the debtor.
We considered that this opened up the possibility of contacting Aaton Digital's former subcontractors to see if they had any additional stocks of mechanical or electronic parts to supplement those supplied to us by Atomos.
Some of them responded favourably, enabling Club Cantar to purchase and obtain more front selector kits. Other parts are awaiting quotation and delivery.
# New repair items selected by Club Cantar to supplement the stock donated by Atomos :
- Spare parts manufactured by Club Cantar, in stock:
Cantarem2 red rubber bumpers - Cantaress red rubber bumpers - Display glass for CantarX3 and CantarMini - CamC clip post - Cantarem2 arms, left and right - Front selector electronic board
- Off-the-shelf parts purchased by the Club and modified by TDM Audio Pro
Display LCD screen, modified to increase contrast and brightness - Audinate Dante card, programmed with CantarX3 or CantarMini firmware
Main selector complete mechanical kit, allowing us to upgrade or manufacture main selectors.
- Parts currently undergoing manufacturing
Line out board: connected to external circuits and potentially exposed to overcurrents, this is a known weak point of the CantarX3. As we have very few of them, it is imperative that we had more manufactured. We slightly modified it by adding additional internal electrical protection. Manufacturing has been launched, availability date to be announced.
All of the above parts are for Club Cantar members only and can be purchased from TDM Audio Pro. Analog Waves LLC in Van Nuys , USA, is also carrying a stock of them for repair and purchase, [email protected]
# We value your opinion and need your feedback on what you expect from Club Cantar and what it could offer you in the future.
We will soon be adding a Google form link to the Club Cantar website so that we can ask you questions on specific topics, such as the possible production of new accessories or the remanufacturing of well-known accessories like the A-Box8.
As frustrating as it may seem, the link will not allow for ongoing discussion between you and us, but it will allow us to get your opinion at a given moment on the topics we choose to bring to your attention.
But of course, following these surveys, you can always contact us by email at [email protected] or create and engage in discussions on the various Cantar groups on social media such as Facebook or Signal.
And last but not least, we wish you all a wonderful festive season and health and happiness for the year ahead.
Pierre Michoud, for the Club Cantar
