Traffic light system completed.

The system prevents stand-offs between motorhomes and caravans on a narrow campsite access road where passing is difficult.

Drivers simply press the yellow button to request priority. Once the light turns green, they have 90 seconds to reach the other side safely.

The traffic lights communicate wirelessly with each other over a distance of approximately 250 metres through dense forest using LoRa technology — no internet or Wi-Fi required.

Both the hardware and software were developed together with a good friend. The entire system was built at around 80% lower cost than a quotation from a conventional traffic light supplier.

The system was tested in 36 different scenarios to ensure reliable operation under a wide range of conditions, including power failures, simultaneous requests, misuse, and heavy traffic flow.

I have been warning about publicly posting personal stuff on social media to friends and family for a while now. People tell me they understand but keep doing it. Deutsche Telekom made this English advertisement which tells you about what’s happening today with artificial intelligence.

It’s not a threat for the future. It’s happening now. Today. There is more money involved in cybercrime than in drug related or any other crime.

There is not much you can do about it now. It’s too late. There is so much data out there already, that this form of crime is unstoppable.

What you can do is inform yourselves. Please be aware. Aware about what you are posting. Aware about when something weird happens. Aware when your children or other family or friends ask you for money or information.

Check everything. Ask smart control questions or agree on a secret word amongst yourselves that you can use to prove that it is really you for when you are in real dire need.

There's a lot to say and think about Elon Musk these days.

One good thing to know is that they eliminated the 250 GB limit for the EUR 50,00 per month subscription after consumer backlash. Apparently they do listen ☺️

I hope thiis doesn't affect the high average speeds that were getting now. Time will tell!

So my own Dishy mcFlatface is mounted now. Yeah that's it's real name...

I am getting expected speeds, let's watch a lot of movies and hope to go over 250gb to see what the speed will be after the soft cap.

The mount I used is a default mount from the brico which I modded to make the dish fit firmly. Couldn't get myself to pay 79 euros for the Starlink proprietary mount.

The Starlink price drop I discussed in my previous post seems to have a drawback. But I'm not sure if it's something to worry about.

I received word that, since the price drop, a data cap is also put in place. After 250 GB of monthly usage, the speed should no longer be guaranteed. In other words, you will share the remaining bandwidth with all users that are over 250 GB.

I'm not sure if this is a problem; most users will never go over 250 GB, and there's no word of what the lower speed could be. They just say it's not guaranteed. We'll have to see in real-world situations.

The screenshot is from their website made today. No word yet about the 250 GB (except my annotations in red that also show my graphics skills 😂)

I'll post about this again when I have more insights about the matter.

Starlink has lowered its subscription fee in France. We're now one of the cheapest countries to get Starlink.

For just 50 euros a month you can also enjoy fast & reliable internet now! Most people pay around 50 euros for Orange now, so there's no reason not to switch over. You must buy Dishy mcFlatface (the dish, see photo), which costs 480 euros.

You will lose your landline, but on the upside, you'll also lose all those callers that try to sell you stuff.

You can order on Starlink.com. They added a function "Specify on the map" to specify your service location. However, not all streets are there. If you can't find your address, try finding the Google code for your address on Google Maps.

Op dit moment hebben vier van mijn klanten Starlink en zijn daarmee tevreden mee.

Het werkt snel, zowel de download (200 mbit gemiddeld) en upload (40 mbit gemiddeld) zijn indrukwekkend voor op ‘t platteland.

Mise à jour de Starlink : Starlink a modifié sa parabole afin de pouvoir accélérer la production et les livraisons.

Malheureusement, ils ont envoyé un email aux personnes sur la liste d'attente il y a quelques jours expliquant que la livraison de leur parabole est retardée jusqu'à mi ou fin 2022. Cela est sans doute dû à la pénurie mondiale de puces.

De plus, ils s'étendent à 45 pays supplémentaires, ce qui rendra l'exécution des commandes encore plus difficile.

J'ai déjà écrit qu'il faudra attendre 2022 pour pouvoir s'abonner, mais je m'attendais à ce que ce soit au printemps.

Maintenant, il semble que ce soit plutôt en 2023 que vous pourrez vous abonner...

S'il y a des mises à jour, je les publierai immédiatement !
