Our IEC Telecom UAE team, represented by Maya Najjar and Anastasia Kuzmenko, had the pleasure of attending an insightful seminar organised by the Emirates Shipping Association, bringing together leading industry experts to discuss the challenges facing global energy markets and maritime trade.

Against a backdrop of geopolitical and economic uncertainty, the discussions offered valuable perspectives on industry developments, pathways to recovery and forecasts for market stabilisation.

The event also provided an excellent opportunity to engage with fellow delegates and exchange insights on the critical role of in ensuring and supporting .

𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗥𝗘𝗤𝗨𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗧𝗢 𝗗𝗘𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 𝗜𝗡 𝟰𝟴 𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗦: 𝗗𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗞 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗜𝗡 𝗦𝗔𝗥𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗔

The sailing yacht SlowMotion was in the port of Sant'Antioco, Sardinia, preparing to set out on a round-the-world voyage, when a critical piece of equipment failed to arrive. The Starlink Performance (Gen 3) antenna ordered through an unofficial reseller could not be supplied, leaving the vessel unable to depart with the connectivity it needed for months at sea.

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗘

With the departure date fixed, the captain needed a reliable solution within a very short timeframe.

The request was escalated directly to Starlink. As one of Starlink's long-standing authorised resellers worldwide, IEC Telecom was entrusted with the order, with a clear requirement: deliver the antenna to Sardinia and complete the installation on board within 48 hours.

𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗘

To meet the urgent timeline, IEC Telecom assigned a team to Sardinia right away. On arrival, the engineers installed and tested the system on board, then handed it over to the captain. The project was completed on 5 October, within the agreed timeframe.

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗘

SlowMotion is now fully connected and has set sail on its journey around the world. This case shows the risks customers face when they buy from unauthorised resellers. Buying from an authorised Starlink reseller is the only way to be sure of reliable delivery and professional service. Customers who work with an authorised reseller can count on certified equipment, expert installation and ongoing support long after the vessel leaves port.

Two days of connectivity conversations at IDECS 2026 in Kuching!

Over the past two days, IEC Telecom Malaysia has joined i-CATS University at its stand in the Sarawak Aerospace Agency Pavilion at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching.

We were honoured to welcome the The Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Premier of Sarawak to our joint stand. Our team also had the pleasure of meeting Tan Sri Dato Sri Affendi Buang, Chairman of the Sarawak Aerospace Agency.

With Starlink Mini and Starlink Standard running live, paired with our IEC Voucher Management System, our team demonstrated how a shared connection can serve a school or village, with individual data allowances and central oversight for ICT managers.

Hisham Ghaffar, our Managing Director for ASEAN, shared insights with visitors on how satellite connectivity can complement terrestrial networks to support rural education, remote communities and emergency response across Borneo.
