⚡ Europe is poised at an interesting crossroads. We know that something has to change when it comes to energy and the grid, but what?

"Power Line Communication (PLC) has been the primary connectivity method in early (smart meter) rollout phases, often combined with cellular networks in data concentrators (DCUs). However, as data requirements grow and electrical noise in power lines increases, PLC may struggle to provide reliable communication. To meet these challenges, additional support is needed. As a result, utilities are increasingly exploring wireless alternatives, complementing cellular with other emerging wireless technologies to ensure dependable data transmission."

Hi, you found our nodes! 👋 These little guys go to events with us demonstrating how mesh networks perform using the NR+ standard. What's NR+? That's a connectivity standard, we've built our Wirepas Mesh solution on. And it's how to connect various smart devices at scale. Our mesh network is used and proven in millions of smart electricity meters as an example.

The world's first NR+ interoperability demo made its debut at the DECT Forum NR+ event on 10 March, and was also on show at Light + Building 2026 at the Nordic Semiconductor booth. What a milestone! 🎉

The NR+ interoperability demo has devices from multiple manufacturers, all operating together on the same RF mesh network. In total about 80 devices are connected in the same network. Think of scalability, predictability and reliability.
