Digistars Oy – Statement regarding the name “DigiStar”
Oy was founded in Helsinki, Finland, on 15 April 2014. The company and its founder have used the name ” (and variants) continuously in digital services and consulting since 2014, with earlier professional use of the name dating back to 1997 in the Netherlands (Digistar Nederland B.V., KvK 34100123) and in Finland since 1999.
In February 2019, Innofactor Plc launched its trainee programme under the name “Innofactor DigiStar”. Subsequently, Valmet launched its own DigiStar trainee programme in 2020, and the Helsinki-Uusimaa region (Province of Uusimaa) initiated a digital training programme named DigiStar / DigiTähti around 2020–2021.
We would like to make it absolutely clear that Digistars Oy has no affiliation, association, partnership, or any other connection with Innofactor Plc, Valmet, or the Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council.
In response to Innofactor’s EU trade mark application for “Innofactor DigiStar”, Digistars Oy filed an opposition at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) (Opposition No. B 3 202 338). The Opposition Division rejected the opposition on 17 June 2025. Digistars Oy has appealed the decision to the EUIPO Board of Appeal. The proceedings are ongoing.
