Pentonet Oy

Pentonet was founded in 2016 by Darryn Trowell and King Muffin Oy with the goal to supply on-board cellular connectivity based on modern and cost-effective solutions. We quickly noticed that while onboard cellular was a great service, there were problems getting data from the ship to shore and – or even using it onboard the ship. So our mission developed to provide smarter communications of all types for sea and shore. We believe that working together with everyone is the most important thing that we can bring into the maritime industry. This is the reason why we open source everything we can, working with the honest game changers in the industry instead of trying to monopolise our position through aggressive acquisitions. Proprietary software and hardware solutions might be excellent for vendor lock-in reasons, but mostly just harm the whole industry. Our solution is

designed to make data accessible onboard and offboard at reasonable cost. An open system which offers greater flexibility by giving you the ability to choose software from different suppliers with the knowledge that they will work together and can be accessed across different environments

Since Pentonet does not sell connectivity or airtime, we work with any connection and co-operate with any hardware environment.
