We learned, we had fun – and we kicked off the summer, the Digia way. ☀️🎉

Last Friday we came together across our offices to celebrate learning, sharing, and connecting. Digians are a curious bunch by nature, always eager to explore new skills and pass them on. And just as importantly, we value the moments in between: spending time together beyond project work, whether it’s about tennis, crafts, or agentic fun.

“The event was built around our learning communities and hobby clubs. I think we really managed to pique curiosity around what we offer. People seemed to enjoy themselves and discovered interesting colleagues to chat and hang out with. All in all, it was a great start to the summer season,” says Jonas Engström, who brought our learning communities to life with a stand-up–inspired performance. 💎

Software developer Jonas Engström noticed how easily his time and focus were slipping away. Instead of running on autopilot, he started exploring digital minimalism and making small, intentional changes to his everyday habits. Recently, he shared his insights with colleagues in Digia's Beer'n'Banter talk. This isn’t about a radical reset. It’s about small, realistic shifts:

Reduce friction ➡️ simplify your environment
Set limits ➡️ for example, time caps on social media
Replace, don’t just remove ➡️ books, notes, conversations

Jonas also applied the same thinking when preparing his talk. AI helped structure the content, but he chose to hand‑draw the slides, because that’s the kind of work he genuinely enjoys. 💎

Agentic programming is becoming more common – but how do we spread best practices?

There are many ways, but we believe in sharing: bringing senior trainees together to experiment, learn, and grow as a group.

For our Integration Developer Konsta Janhunen, a mob programming session with AI agents highlighted the value of working in clear stages:

Another key takeaway was that not every task needs the most powerful language model. The best results come from choosing the model that fits the task at hand.
