Dear Pythonistas, we are pleased to announce the first Python sprint organized by Helsinki PyLadies in collaboration with Python Finland.
http://www.meetup.com/Helsinki-PyLadies/events/193757162/
The sprint will be held in the Kneto premises in Helsinki (https://goo.gl/maps/02yrP - Kalevankatu 18B, 00100), Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd of August, from 10am till 18pm.
This sprint is an occasion to get involved with Python, learn about what happens behind the scenes, and at the same time improving Python by fixing bugs, implementing new features, improving the documentation, and in general contributing to the language. Everyone is invited. There are tasks of all levels: simple typo fixes in the documentation, Python-only changes to the standard library, changes to the core that might require some C knowledge, changes to the infrastructure (e.g., bug tracker) that require some web-development skills, and many other tasks.
Before the actual coding begins there will be a short introduction about the Python development process, and during the sprint there will be Python core developers available to help the participants.
Don't miss the chance get your name written in the history of Python development! If you intend to come, please confirm on which days at the following link: http://doodle.com/vbd2ku4u6kxiw9nz This will give us an idea of how many participants are to be expected -- we might even be able to provide free lunches for everybody!Remember to bring your laptop, and, if you can, start taking a look at the devguide (https://docs.python.org/devguide/) and clone Python as explained in the quick start.
