Say hello to our new trainees Azar, Noel and Linn, who have started at our Swedish office!

To get to know them we asked them about their backgrounds and what they are looking forward to during their training period. Read our interview below to find out the answers!

🔶Tell me something about your background?

Azar: My background is a mix of industry and academia, spanning data analytics and engineering across various sectors. I studied Computer Science for my first degree and Sustainable Production Development for my second degree at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. Outside of work, books, art in all its shapes, and comics keep me inspired.

Noel: I was born and raised in Stockholm but spent three years in Sandviken attending the orienteering high school academy before moving to Uppsala University. There, I completed my bachelor's in economics and master’s degree in Statistics & Data Analysis, focusing on statistical learning, predictive modeling, and machine learning. Between my degrees, I also gained practical experience working as an auditor within the real estate sector.

Linn: I'm originally from Gothenburg, but my path here took a few detours first. I spent 4 years in North Carolina earning my Bachelor's in Business Administration, then 2 years in New York City completing my Master's in Business Analytics. All while competing in collegiate track and field.

🔶Why did you choose Codento, and what are you most excited about?

Azar: It is genuinely exciting to be part of a team that is passionate about driving real value from data. I am looking forward to contributing to meaningful client projects, and growing both personally and professionally within a culture that values continuous learning and knowledge sharing. I hope to bring a mix of technical skills and industry experience, with an intersectional perspective that adds value to both clients and the team.

Noel: I chose Codento because it’s a great chance to get straight into a consulting role in a company that is curious and at the forefront of new technologies. I'm really looking forward to getting the chance to work with diverse client projects, applying modern data and AI solutions, learning, and collaborating with all my new colleagues!

Linn: It was the people who made this feel like the right fit. A team of smart, curious individuals who value continuous learning and believe the job isn't just about delivering solutions to clients, but delivering real value. The trainee program felt like the perfect place to grow within that kind of culture. Looking ahead, I'm excited to be part of a pioneering company driving real change, to deepen and evolve my skills across business, analytics, and data, and to keep learning from the colleagues around me.

What does a data engineering project actually look like from the consultant’s side?

In the latest Decoding the Consultant Life: Real Stories from Real Consultants, Data Engineer Juhani Takkunen shares his experience working with Smartvatten.

🔸 The challenge: reporting processes were distributed across different spreadsheets and financial and operational metrics required significant manual effort.

Our team built a common data platform for Smartvatten. Using our internal templates, we quickly spun up a proof of concept. This really helped improve communication early on between all participants.

The vast majority of our time was dedicated to defining, modeling, and implementing KPI calculations. Defining the business rules was complex and required a lot of back-and-forth between multiple key stakeholders.

Cleaning the data and properly defining KPIs allowed the customer to create live analytical reports. Earlier the customer wasn’t able to do this or keep the reports updated daily.

Juhani reflects on what he enjoyed most about the project:
💡 “Personally, I really enjoyed this part of the work: working closely with the customer to understand and define the business problem and experimenting with different solutions to find the one that truly solved the root issue.”

I’m Yeva, and I’ll be joining Codento in the data and AI space. My work focuses on building practical data solutions, automation, and AI agents that help teams turn information into useful insights and more efficient workflows.

🔶Background in the industry:
My background combines engineering, renewable energy, data analytics, and AI. I originally studied Electromechanical Engineering and worked for several years in the solar energy sector, where I used data to improve project analysis, reporting, and decision making. More recently, I’ve been moving deeper into data and AI, working with Python, Power BI, data pipelines, and AI based automation. I enjoy the mix of technical problem solving and understanding the real business context behind the data.

🔶Why did you choose Codento?
Originally, I joined Data Edge because it seemed like an amazing place to grow in the direction I wanted to take my career, especially within data, AI, and practical technology solutions.
