With FuelEU Maritime, EU ETS and CII compliance in full force, the question isn't whether you're tracking emissions--it's whether you're doing it without drowning your crew in manual work.
Virgin Voyages is tackling this head-on. They've deployed NAPA's new Environmental Module to turn real-time operational data into comprehensive environmental KPIs (at both ship and fleet level) without adding extra reporting burden. "By connecting onboard data directly to fleet-wide environmental reporting, we gain greater transparency, faster insight, and more confidence in the information we use for compliance, ESG reporting, and day-to-day decision-making, without adding manual workload for our crew and shoreside teams," says Capt. Marco Carsjens, Fleet Captain at Virgin Voyages.
The system pulls from NAPA's electronic logbooks and voyage reports, automatically calculating:
✅ Carbon, fuel & energy metrics
✅ Waste & discharge tracking
✅ Water & wastewater management
✅ Operational context (passengers, nautical miles, port calls)
🙌 All synced to shore in real time. 🙌 All audit-ready. 🙌 All without burdening the crew.
As Sami Koponen, Product Owner for Cloud Safety Solutions at NAPA, adds, "This is what moving from reactive compliance to proactive performance looks like."
