Last weekend, 15 colleagues from NAPA Romania and one very enthusiastic young supporter took part in the Half-marathon Galați 2026, competing across the 21 km, 10 km, and 3 km races.

Wearing our " " message on our t-shirts, we set off with great energy and team spirit - and we all made it to the finish line! 🎉

What started as a sporting event quickly turned into something much more meaningful. We ran together, encouraged each other, shared laughs, and crossed the finish line side by side.

The energy, positivity, and team spirit made this experience truly special. We're excited to share a few moments from the day and give you a glimpse of the atmosphere we enjoyed.

Looking forward to the next one! 💙

🚢 We had the pleasure of hosting (Laradi ry), the Finnish Society of Naval Architects, for an afterwork evening at our Helsinki office yesterday!

🚢 The evening started with a NAPA presentation and product demo, enjoyed over food and drinks. The conversations kept flowing well into the sauna hours, with both seasoned shipbuilders and naval architecture students in the mix.

🚢 It was wonderful to reconnect with familiar faces and meet the next generation of naval architects. Welcome again!

The NAPA Korea team had their first team activity this year: a reservoir trail walk along one of Busan's nicest walking paths, with great spots nearby for authentic Korean food.

The team enjoyed great food, took a relaxing walk, and made the most of Busan's beautiful spring weather with warm sunshine and fresh air. 😎

AI, automation, high-frequency data and digital platforms are reshaping shipping, but persistent hashtag still risk holding the industry back.

At NAPA, we often hear the same myths:
🚫 digitalization is too complex
🚫 more data just means more work
🚫 spreadsheets can deliver the same value as dedicated performance monitoring tools, etc

In reality, the most successful digital transformations start small, addressing clear operational pain points and turning data into actionable insights that support better decisions onboard and onshore.

In our latest blog, Ossi Mettälä, Product Manager, Shipping Solutions at NAPA, explores 7 common maritime hashtag and why they deserve to be challenged. He explains what shipowners need to know to improve efficiency, manage compliance, and future-proof fleet performance.

👉🏻Read part one here: https://www.napa.fi/debunking-7-maritime-digitalization-myths-what-shipowners-need-to-know/

And keep your eyes peeled for part two, where we’ll dive into 7 more myths around vessel and voyage optimization.

With FuelEU Maritime, EU ETS and CII compliance in full force, the question isn't whether you're tracking emissions--it's whether you're doing it without drowning your crew in manual work.

Virgin Voyages is tackling this head-on. They've deployed NAPA's new Environmental Module to turn real-time operational data into comprehensive environmental KPIs (at both ship and fleet level) without adding extra reporting burden. "By connecting onboard data directly to fleet-wide environmental reporting, we gain greater transparency, faster insight, and more confidence in the information we use for compliance, ESG reporting, and day-to-day decision-making, without adding manual workload for our crew and shoreside teams," says Capt. Marco Carsjens, Fleet Captain at Virgin Voyages.

The system pulls from NAPA's electronic logbooks and voyage reports, automatically calculating:
✅ Carbon, fuel & energy metrics
✅ Waste & discharge tracking
✅ Water & wastewater management
✅ Operational context (passengers, nautical miles, port calls)

🙌 All synced to shore in real time. 🙌 All audit-ready. 🙌 All without burdening the crew.

As Sami Koponen, Product Owner for Cloud Safety Solutions at NAPA, adds, "This is what moving from reactive compliance to proactive performance looks like."

The future of ship design is shaped together. ⚓🇯🇵

This year’s NAPA User Seminar Japan 2025 gathered over 150 professionals from across the maritime industry, including shipyards, classification societies, engineering offices, shipowners, and academia, in Kobe to tackle the challenges of evolving regulations, decarbonization, digitalization, and next-generation ship design.

This year’s sessions highlighted how fast the industry is evolving:
✨ Shared digital twins connecting design and operations
✨ Smarter 3D workflows speeding up design accuracy
✨ Generative AI supporting complex calculations and new design options
✨ Integrated tools that bring clarity to increasingly complex processes

Most importantly, the seminar showed how powerful collaboration across the entire value chain truly is. When shipyards, owners, engineers, and educators come together, innovation accelerates—and Japan’s shipbuilding future becomes even stronger.

A huge thank you to all the attendees and our partners for sharing their expertise. Proud to help build this future—together. 🚢💡

The complexities of modern ship design mean naval architects and engineers are looking for solutions that are powerful all-rounders – a real “Swiss army knife” for ship design. And that’s exactly how Radovan Gasparovic, Head of Stability and Weight at Ulstein Design & Solutions AS, describes NAPA.

For over 30 years of designing smart and sustainable ships, Ulstein has used NAPA for hydrodynamics and damage stability analysis, as well as for automation that saves hundreds of hours of manual work. By tailoring NAPA’s tools to specific needs, Ulstein’s team is able to accelerate design processes while maintaining accuracy and transparency. With rising regulatory demands, complex vessel configurations, and rapid digital innovation, this efficiency and customization is crucial for ship designers to stay ahead.
