🏭 Your factory can't stop just because the cloud has a bad day.

Yet that's exactly the challenge many manufacturers are facing.

How do you modernise SAP, improve resilience and gain cloud scalability without putting critical factory and logistics operations at risk?

A global enterprise running one of the world's largest SAP landscapes faced exactly that problem.
Together with IBM and Microsoft, we helped build a resilient Azure and Azure Local platform designed to combine ☁️ cloud scale with 🏭 local operational reliability.

The result?
✅ Successful migration of around 1,000 SAP virtual machines
🛡️ Multi-region and multi-zone resilience
🚚 Reliable factory and logistics operations
💰 Around 10% monthly infrastructure savings

Because some workloads can tolerate downtime.
Manufacturing operations can't.

A huge shoutout to the experts behind this transformation:
🔹 Amit Dhuri - leading managed cloud operations
🔹 Igor Shastitko - driving the SAP architecture and transformation
🔹 Iwona Kościółek - helping orchestrate the journey from planning to delivery

Your AI project doesn't need a better model.
It might need a better finance team.

While everyone is debating prompts, agents and model performance, many organisations are missing a much simpler problem:
They don't know where the money is going 💸.

AI costs scale differently.

A single API call is cheap.
Ten million aren't.

And without the right controls, optimisation and visibility, AI spend can grow far faster than AI value.

That's where FinOps comes in.

Not as a cost-cutting exercise, but as the discipline that helps organisations turn AI from an experiment into a sustainable capability.

Still measuring FinOps success by how much cloud spend you've cut 👀?

You might be optimising the wrong thing.

For years, FinOps has been associated with cost reduction. Turn things off. Trim resources. Reduce the bill.

But cloud, AI, data and security have changed the game.

The real question isn't "How much are we spending?" It's "What value are we getting from that spend?"

In his latest blog, Gabriele Russo explores why FinOps needs to move beyond chasing savings and start helping organisations make smarter investment decisions across cloud, AI, data and security.

Because sometimes the right outcome isn't spending less.

It's knowing you're spending wisely 💪.

Every FinOps journey hits turbulence.

Not from obvious mistakes
but from decisions that seemed right at the time.

Welcome to the Hazard Zone:
🌋 Licence Volcano
🏜️ Commitment Canyon
🌊 AI Cost Waterfall

Individually, manageable.
Together, expensive.

Good FinOps doesn’t just optimise usage.

It navigates:
→ commitments
→ scaling decisions
→ long-term cost exposure

Is your cloud estate growing faster than your ability to govern it 👀?

One platform here. Another there. Different teams. Different vendors. Rising costs. Limited visibility.

Sound familiar?

That's exactly where Neste found itself.

As a global leader in renewable fuels, Neste had ambitious plans for Azure, Google Cloud and SAP modernisation. But fragmented cloud adoption, governance gaps and mounting pressure to optimise costs were making it harder to move forward.

So how do you turn a collection of cloud environments into a strategic multi-cloud platform that actually supports the business?

Over five years, we helped Neste:
⚡ Build a unified Azure and Google Cloud foundation
⚡ Introduce governance without slowing innovation
⚡ Automate repetitive processes and empower developers
⚡ Deliver measurable cost savings across Azure and GCP
⚡ Create a managed cloud operating model built for scale

The result? More than 600 projects delivered on a stable, governed cloud platform, and a cloud environment ready for whatever comes next.

If you're wrestling with cloud sprawl, governance challenges, vendor complexity or the constant pressure to do more with less, this story will feel very familiar.
And it might give you a few ideas for what comes next.

The most expensive server is usually the one nobody's using.

Yet many engineering environments are still built around permanently running infrastructure, sized for peak demand and carrying licensing costs whether anyone needs them or not.

Sound familiar😏?

We recently helped a global industrial organisation tackle exactly that challenge.

Their engineering and simulation workloads were running on legacy VMware and OpenStack environments that had become costly, inflexible and increasingly difficult to maintain.

Instead of simply lifting and shifting workloads, we helped them rethink how infrastructure was provisioned and consumed.

🔹 Migrated 300+ virtual machines to AWS
🔹 Moved 250+ TB of data
🔹 Replaced legacy VMware and OpenStack platforms
🔹 Introduced on-demand infrastructure for engineering and simulation workloads
🔹 Reduced dependency on always-on capacity and legacy licensing

The result?

Engineering teams gained the flexibility to scale resources when needed, run compute-intensive simulations on demand and stop paying for infrastructure sitting idle.

Because cloud migration isn't really about moving workloads.

It's about breaking free from infrastructure decisions that no longer make sense.

Welcome, traveller.

There’s no single route to getting cloud, AI and data costs under control.

Most organisations aren’t following a plan.
They’re drifting.

Between:
→ fragmented visibility
→ unclear ownership
→ decisions made without context

Until one day…

The bill lands. And no one can fully explain it.

That’s your first signal you’ve entered the FinOps Galaxy.

A place where spend, architecture and accountability slowly fall out of orbit.

We’ve mapped it - properly.

Your VMware bill isn't the problem.

It's just the thing that finally got your attention😏.

This global engineering company started with a familiar challenge:

📈 Rising VMware licensing costs
📉 Limited visibility into infrastructure spend
🏢 A legacy data centre that had become increasingly difficult to justify

The plan was simple: move to AWS.

What they discovered was something else entirely.

Years of accumulated workloads. Applications nobody was using. Infrastructure nobody owned. Costs nobody could properly explain.

By taking a step back before migrating, they found that around **40% of workloads didn't need to move anywhere at all.**

They could simply be retired.

The result?
✅ Full VMware exit
✅ Lower infrastructure costs than initially estimated
✅ Better cost visibility and ownership
✅ A more resilient AWS environment
✅ A clear path towards automation and optimisation

Sometimes the biggest cloud savings don't come from moving faster.

They come from finally understanding what you're running in the first place.

Turns out, cloud still needs engineers 😏.

And when Google selects just 31 professionals globally for its new Ambassador Program, it's a pretty good indicator of where some of that expertise sits.

We're proud to share that our own Damian Sztankowski has been recognised as a Google Cloud Ambassador.

But this isn't just a personal achievement.

For our clients, it means access to the latest Google Cloud insights, closer connections to product teams, and expertise that helps turn complex cloud challenges into practical outcomes.

Because while AI is dominating the conversation, the foundations still matter:
🥷 data you can trust
🥷 security built in from day one
🥷 architectures that scale beyond the proof of concept
🥷 sovereignty and control where it matters most

As Damian puts it, organisations should be focusing not just on AI, but on the data, security and governance that make innovation sustainable in the first place.

In our latest blog, Damian shares what Ambassador status means, the trends enterprises should watch over the next 12–18 months, and why cloud engineering remains an endless journey of learning.
