Last Saturday, we brought together movement, team spirit, summer celebrations and charity— all in one day.
For the second year in a row, MeetingPackage took part in a late spring running event. This time, the destination was the Helsinki Half Marathon (https://hubs.ly/Q04l0rs30).
What started as a shared running initiative soon turned into something bigger. Since a group of colleagues had already committed to the event, we decided to build our annual summer party around the same day — with one important note: running was completely optional, celebrating together was not.
This year, we also added a charity element. For every kilometre run, we committed to donating €3 to a Finnish non-profit organisation. Our chosen organisation was MIELI ry (https://hubs.ly/Q04l0HM00), which does important work to support mental wellbeing and provide low-threshold help for people in different life situations.
In the end, 12 runners joined the challenge and together collected ~450€ for charity. The weather did not exactly deliver peak summer vibes, but despite the rain, wind and one unfortunate injury, the team showed up with great energy — and almost everyone crossed the finish line with a smile.
After the run, the day continued in true Finnish-meets-MeetingPackage style: sauna, relaxed time together, Indian food, refreshments and, for the most energetic ones, a continuation into the Helsinki night.
For us, this was another reminder that meaningful company culture is built through shared moments — not only in meetings, projects or Slack threads, but also when people have time to connect outside the everyday work context.
A relatively small initiative can create a lot of positive impact: supporting a good cause, encouraging wellbeing, bringing colleagues together and creating memories that last well beyond one Saturday.
Huge thanks to everyone who joined, ran, supported, organised, cheered and celebrated.
