Slowly the summer is coming to an end. It felt it would go on forever and then all of a sudden the colder nights arrived with a cool breeze.
I love working with an autumn inspired color palette, like this illustration of cedar waxwings that I made a while ago!

Let’s hear it for the lizards! Today it’s world lizard day, and that’s an excuse for me to tell you about my favorite lizard; the ocelated lizard, with it’s gorgeous blue dots. Having written that i feel bad for our lovely house gecko’s though, that live on our book shelves, behind cabinets and in drawers. Can I have to favorites?
Anyway, happy world lizard day! Feel free to share this, and tell me your favorite lizard 🦎

For International Wolf Day, I’m sharing a cover concept for a novel called A Wolf for a Day.
International Wolf Day is a moment to celebrate wolves, and to raise awareness of the important role they play in the ecosystems they are part of. They are fascinating, highly intelligent animals, with complex social lives and an extraordinary ability to adapt.
It’s beautiful seeing wolves in landscapes where there is still space for them to live as wolves: large, wild areas with room to roam, hunt and raise their young peacefully.

Just a few hours until the eclipse is there! We’re very lucky to live in what’s pretty much the best place to view it, and are crossing our fingers for a clear sky tonight!

Just a few of the many animal portraits I drew originally for our app Fauna Weather. For this app, a different animal shows up whenever you view the forecast, and coming up with sooo many different ones was a challenge that I loved.
You can find fauna weather in the App Store
Would you like me to share the nocturnal animals too?

Life in the desert is something different. This series is inspired by Morocco, by Marrakech and it’s deserts.
I really enjoyed drawing such a different setting, with light so distinct and a completely different visual language

By the way, these illustrations are available for licensing, either individually or as a series. I have a large library of existing work available for licensing.

This summer is without a doubt the hottest we’ve experienced here in Spain since we lived here, so I’ll just be posting some water themed work to let at least my brain cool down imagining I’m there 😂
Stay cool wherever you are!

This coyote made me bring my halftones back and I love it! It’s interesting how that goes, how techniques and ways of working slightly evolve and each work asks you to think about that process again. It never feels repetitive.

This brand new illustration is available for licensing and I would think it would look awesome on a cover or on a shirt, or find its place in some sort of nature preservation project. Always happy to tell you more about licensing! Just send me a dm and we’ll chat.

The way your summer sounds, smells and feels depends entirely of where you live. I love how my complete sense of summer was turned upside down when moving to Spain. It made me so much more aware of those specific scents and sounds.
Here, typical summer birds are the golden oriole and the European bea eater. Both brightly colored birds that I not only hear a lot but also see very regularly, and that is quite a thing I always hear as the oriole can, despite his yellow color, be notoriously hard to spot!

‘One Wild Place’ is a concept for a children’s book that I came up with a while ago. The inspiration for it comes directly from my own life in nature, and from how one place can be different every time you go there. Everything is always changing; one day you meet a rabbit, the next a flower has suddenly blossomed. The weather can set the mood, and each encounter can be completely different. It’s the same place, but never quite the same story.
