A Focus Tip from Joel: As a founder I often have to deal with a lot of tasks on a timely basis. I (literally) can’t afford to procrastinate often. As someone with ADHD this is…challenging. But here’s something I learned that helps me:

TLDR: (1) Procrastination can be understood as the avoidance of task-related stress. There’s something about that task that you anticipate being stressful so you avoid it.

(2) How to overcome it: Realise that you are capable of doing that task (even if you currently don’t have the motivation). Meditate on your capability.

(3) When you start something difficult, recall those challenging moments you’ve overcome rather than letting your initial feeling take over. Wait at least 20 minutes before you consider not continuing the task (I’ll explain why in the next focus tip!).
