What makes a store truly sustainable?
Not the plants. Not the recycled-looking finishes. Not what it communicates on opening day.

The real decisions happen behind the scenes: how materials are chosen, how much we use, how things come apart, what can be repaired and what happens when the store changes.

Our latest Mormedi Thinking article explores how retail can move from designing spaces for their first opening to designing them for their second, third and next life.

Because the future of sustainable retail is not about finding one perfect material.
It is about building smarter systems.

Net zero is no longer optional. But compliance alone will not build the energy businesses of tomorrow.

The energy transition is reshaping far more than generation and infrastructure. It is changing how value is created, how companies collaborate and how customers expect to interact with energy.

For energy leaders, the challenge is no longer simply to decarbonise existing operations. It is to redesign the business around a fundamentally different market.

That means moving beyond isolated sustainability initiatives and addressing three connected opportunities:

Business design
Reimagining business models and value propositions that support low-carbon goals while opening new revenue streams across services, platforms and distributed energy solutions.

Ecosystem-driven growth
Recognising that no organisation can transition alone. Future growth will depend on the ability to create value with partners, regulators, technology providers, innovators and customers across increasingly complex ecosystems.

Seamless omnichannel journeys
Designing consistent experiences across physical and digital touchpoints, so customers can understand, access and manage energy services when, where and how they choose.

The companies that lead the transition will not simply provide cleaner energy. They will make the transition easier to understand, easier to access and more valuable for every participant in the system.

Our latest Mormedi Innovation Lab paper explores how energy organisations can turn the net-zero imperative into new propositions, stronger ecosystems and more relevant customer experiences.

The branch is no longer a place. It is every moment in which a customer needs the bank.

For years, banking transformation was framed as a choice between physical and digital: close branches or invest in apps, automate service or preserve human interaction.

That distinction is disappearing.

Customers do not experience a bank as separate channels. They experience one relationship that moves across an app, a website, an ATM, a partner location, a call centre and a conversation with an advisor. When these moments feel disconnected, trust erodes. When they work together, every touchpoint becomes a branch.

This changes the role of the physical network.

The future is not about preserving the traditional branch unchanged or replacing it entirely with digital services. It is about creating a flexible ecosystem of touchpoints designed around real customer needs:

Smaller advisory spaces.
Self-service kiosks in everyday environments.
Partnerships that extend reach into underserved areas.
Digital journeys that transition seamlessly to human support when reassurance, expertise or empathy is needed.

The question is no longer simply: how many branches should a bank have?

It is: where should the bank be present? What should each touchpoint enable? Which interactions should be automated, and which must remain human? How can every channel contribute to one coherent experience?

Banks that answer these questions well can reduce physical constraints without becoming distant, broaden access without sacrificing personalisation, and transform their network from a fixed cost into a platform for trust, service and growth.

At Mormedi, we help financial institutions anticipate the trends reshaping banking and translate them into tangible services, spaces and customer experiences.

Connected devices do not automatically create a connected home.

When products, platforms and service providers operate separately, people are left with fragmented experiences, multiple interfaces and unclear responsibilities.

A truly smart home should make everyday life simpler. It should bring together technology, data and services around meaningful outcomes such as comfort, security, energy efficiency and wellbeing.

In our latest paper, Mormedi explores how organizations can build more coherent home ecosystems by defining their strategic role, designing services around real household needs, coordinating multiple partners and creating experiences that people can trust.

Will the car still be the centre of mobility in 2050? Probably not.

The vehicle is no longer the whole product. The real product is the connected experience that takes people from one place to another, across every mode, touchpoint and moment.

Ownership is giving way to access. One-time purchases are evolving into subscriptions, shared services and pay-as-you-go models. Younger generations are questioning the cost and value of owning a car, while cities are developing radically different mobility futures shaped by density, infrastructure, regulation and local behaviour.

In some places, autonomous public transport may dominate. In others, walking, cycling and shared micro-mobility will lead. Cars will remain essential in certain markets, but the relationship between people, vehicles and brands will fundamentally change.

For mobility companies, this is not simply a product challenge. It is a transformation of the entire business:

The value proposition.
The revenue model.
The customer relationship.
The service ecosystem.
The role of the vehicle itself.

Legacy brands built around selling assets must learn to design and sell journeys. Every touchpoint matters, from the app and the vehicle to the mobility hub, the street and the wider service network.

The question is no longer only what should we build?

It is what role should our business play in the mobility system of tomorrow?

Get in touch with Mormedi to explore what these shifts could mean for your organization, identify the opportunities ahead and transform future scenarios into tangible propositions, experiences and growth platforms.

The forces reshaping mobility are deeply interconnected. Addressing them requires more than isolated initiatives. It requires a new strategic approach.

In our previous post, we explored the first two drivers transforming the mobility landscape:

01. Sustainability pressure without practical solutions
Regulations and climate commitments are accelerating the transition towards zero-emission mobility. Yet infrastructure limitations, high costs and scalability challenges continue to slow adoption.

02. Fragmented user experiences across modes
People increasingly expect seamless journeys across public, private and shared transport. However, disconnected operators, platforms and services still make mobility unnecessarily complex.

In this second carousel, we turn to the remaining three drivers:

03. Technology hype vs. operational reality
Ambitious concepts such as flying vehicles and full autonomy attract significant attention and investment. But focusing too heavily on distant possibilities can divert resources from scalable solutions capable of delivering value today.

04. Supply chain uncertainty
Trade tensions, critical-resource dependencies and changing regional policies are disrupting global operations. Mobility organizations must rethink sourcing, production and partnerships to build greater resilience and adaptability.

05. Social inequality and access gaps
Millions of people remain underserved by existing mobility systems. Unequal access to affordable, reliable and inclusive transport is not only a social challenge. It is also a growing economic and political risk.

These five drivers cannot be addressed independently. The mobility leaders of the future will be those that connect sustainability, customer experience, technology, operational resilience and equitable access within one coherent strategy.

You can’t predict the future, but you can design for it.

Forecasts often reduce uncertainty to a single expected outcome. Scenario planning does something more valuable: it helps organizations prepare for several plausible futures at the same time.

At Mormedi, we transformed 260 global signals into 8 megatrends, 50 trends and 5 future scenarios, prioritizing the forces with the greatest potential impact on mobility and cities.

Because there is no universal future of mobility. Different urban contexts create different needs, risks and opportunities. By considering five city archetypes, from leading megacities and green cities to highway, expansive and futuristic cities, we can explore how products, services and infrastructure may need to evolve toward 2050.

The result is not another prediction. It is a practical framework that turns uncertainty into concrete design briefs, helping organizations stress-test decisions and build more resilient strategies.

Smart homes are becoming more connected, but not necessarily more coherent.

Devices, platforms and services often operate independently, leaving users to manage a fragmented experience.

At Mormedi, we believe the next generation of smart homes must be designed as complete ecosystems: centered on real-life outcomes, supported by strong partnerships and built around trust.

Our latest paper explores how companies can clarify their role in the home value chain, create integrated services, coordinate multiple industries and design experiences that people can understand and confidently adopt.

Your commute may be decided before you wake up.
Predictive management is shifting urban mobility from reacting to congestion to anticipating it.

By combining historical patterns with real-time data on demand, traffic, weather, events and transport networks, cities and mobility providers can identify pressure points earlier, adapt services, prioritize public transport and create more reliable journeys.

But predictive mobility is not only a technology challenge. It also requires responsible data governance, strong cybersecurity and better collaboration between public and private organizations.

This is one of the emerging themes explored in the Mormedi Trend Cards, a tool created to spark strategic conversations, challenge assumptions and translate future signals into actionable opportunities.
