Mitsubishi's record-breaking elevator traction machine. This specific machine was developed for the Shanghai Tower, where it powers what was the world's fastest elevator, capable of reaching speeds of 20.5 m/s (approximately 74 km/h or 46 mph).
The Machine: A permanent magnet synchronous gearless traction machine. This technology allows for high efficiency and a smoother ride even at extreme speeds.
The Venue: This display was a highlight of the 2016 China International Elevator Exhibition in Shanghai.
The Achievement: The elevator can travel from the ground floor to the 119th floor of the Shanghai Tower in approximately 53 seconds.
Safety Features: To support such high speeds, the system incorporates advanced safety technologies, including specialized governors, braking devices, buffers, and active roller guides to minimize vibration.
