🍁 Hot mic news for early autumn – Microtech Gefell GmbH microphones are now available through Retrosonic Pro Audio!
The Gefell story begins in Berlin in 1928, when Georg Neumann and Erich Rickmann founded their microphone company. In 1943 the Berlin factory was damaged by bombing and production moved to the small town of Gefell in Thuringia located in central Germany, which shortly after became part of East Germany for about forty years.
After the war Neumann himself returned to Berlin but much of the original team stayed in Gefell building microphones. That left two branches: Neumann in Berlin, owned today by Sennheiser, and Gefell, which carried on in East Germany and has been known as Microtech Gefell since German reunification.
What makes Gefell special? They still make the famous M7 capsule, the same capsule used in the legendary U47 and M49 microphones, and they make it the same way Neumann himself taught in the 1940s. Gefell builds measurement microphones with the same precision, used in acoustic measurement, broadcasting and TV.
Most exciting Gefell mics, all in our stock, ready to ship:
Gefell M 930 – a compact large-diaphragm cardioid microphone with very low self-noise and a clear, detailed sound. Great for vocals, acoustic guitar and piano.
Gefell MT 71 S – a large-diaphragm microphone with the legendary M7 capsule. Clean, natural sound with Gefell's signature presence in the highs. Vocals, instruments, broadcast.
Gefell M 330 – a small wide-cardioid condenser microphone for studio and stage. A gentle high-frequency lift makes it a great choice for vocal and instrumental soloists, and it also copes well in rooms with challenging acoustics, such as churches.
Gefell MV 400 X + M 43 – the microphone amplifier from Gefell's new ultra-compact modular system, paired with the wide-cardioid M 43 capsule. The capsules are interchangeable: cardioid, supercardioid, omnidirectional or wide cardioid. In stock with the wide-cardioid M 43 capsule.
