We're thrilled to announce that werf has just hit an incredible milestone of 4,000 GitHub stars! It took us almost seven years to reach it.

We've been putting in a lot of hard work on werf, and it pays: recently, version 2.0 has been released, packed with amazing improvements and introduced Nelm, a brand new deployment engine that reimagines Helm.

A big heartfelt thank you to the amazing engineering community worldwide for embracing werf and believing in its potential! On-demand webinar by CNCF and the werf development team "From improving Helm to developing Nelm — the evolution of deployments in werf"

In the CNCF webinar "From improving Helm to developing Nelm — the evolution of deployments in werf" Ilya Lesikov, the main maintainer of werf, will share why the werf team abandoned Helm and instead focused on developing a new deployment engine called Nelm. He will also talk about real-world problems that helped the werf team figure out what a deployment tool should look like.

Nelm is an Open Source reimplementation of Helm that resolves Helm's backlog of issues. It is backwards compatible with Helm and contributes a lot of new features, some examples of which are listed below:

— 3-Way Merge has been replaced by Server-Side Apply, which is a much more robust mechanism for updating resources in a cluster.
— The werf plan command shows the changes that will be made to the cluster during the next deployment.
— Resource operations (including tracking) during deployment have been efficiently parallelized.
— CRDs deployment has been improved.
— Resource tracking has been significantly improved and revamped.
— Numerous Helm bugs and deployment-related issues have been fixed.

Those include Server-Side Apply, new `werf plan` command, and much more — all rendering the deployment process in your more efficient and convenient than ever before 🔥

Let's rejoice together, and also say thank you to everyone who has starred Deckhouse (it's obviously not just us — although we certainly did our part, there are far fewer of us). Kudos to those who have participated in our chat room, tried Deckhouse, and used it over all these years. You are the ones who made it all possible!
