A couple of weeks ago we launched our new typeface Vee alongside the publication “Let yourself be bad at things” (Estonian version “Ekseldes ei eksi”) at Logi sauna in Tallinn. The publication contains a conversation between us and Laura Pappa, initiator of Vee, where we talk about the origins of our type foundry, our working process and the values embedded in our typefaces. Together, we reflected on the development of Vee through the lens of amateurism, experimentation, and curiosity.

The publication is available for €7 + shipping costs, or you’re welcome to pass by our Tallinn studio for a chat and a complimentary copy.

🌼 New release! Vee is a collaborative typeface between Laura Pappa and Tüpokompanii. It draws inspiration from Venus, a sans-serif typeface family released by the Bauer Type Foundry in 1907 that was popular throughout the first half of the twentieth century. Having regularly worked with Venus in her own designs, Laura was eager to develop a typeface that references its distinctive character while introducing new qualities of its own. Vee could be considered Venus’ younger, more mischievous sister.

Tüpokompanii Licensing 🏛️
After some difficult but necessary discussions we’ve understood it’s time we communicated our licensing more clearly. It’s a snooze, we know, but we hope to lighten the mood with a joyful font 🙃

Here’s your daily Vitamiin “R” 💪

Vitamiin is a versatile sans loaded with positive energy, it comes in 5 weights plus Italics. There are various possibilities to change its look via a large selection of alternates (12 Stylistic Sets in total). The font family is designed as a uniwidth system, meaning that each glyph shares the same metrics across all styles, causing no text reflow no matter the weight or slant angle being used.

Custom typeface Bruno 100 and Ladna used in the monograph “Bruno Tomberg. Invention of Design”, edited by and published by  last year, graphic design by Indrek Sirkel.

Bruno 100 is based on Tomberg’s poster designs from the 1970s, strongly reflecting his style as a product and interior designer where diagonal lines and rhombic shapes were frequent motifs throughout his career.

While the display font was commissioned for this project, it can be licensed to the public, so feel free to reach out to us if you’d like to use it!
