💡 What's a demand-based EV charging network?

It's where people can ask the CPO to build new charging stations in a public parking lot near their home, workplace, or frequently visited spots. 🙋‍♀️

Such places can be parking spaces near apartment buildings where the residents already have EVs or plan to buy one.

🔌 Together with Viru Elektrivõrgud, we have begun developing such a demand-based EV charging network in the Virumaa region of Estonia. The chargers are for public use, and the users only pay for the electricity on a market-price-based model.

⚡ There are 17 charging stations in 10 locations already in work, and the first ones at Narva Hospital were opened last week.

🔦 Now, we are asking for applications from the community. Where should we build the next ones?

🎓 VOOL Charging Academy pt 5:
How powerful a home charger do I need?

TLDR: Check your car's tech specs to determine how much power and how many phases it can charge with.

✅ Home chargers range from 3.6 to 22kW, but many EVs today can only receive up to 11kW of AC power. That's why you need to check the tech specs.

✅ Even if your car can charge with 11kW, choosing a 22kW charger future-proofs your home. It will not harm your EV, and the trend in new cars is towards higher charging speeds.

✅ The number always means "up to" specific power, and the actual charging speed depends on your home grid connection and what your EV can receive.

💡 Pro tip: Your home grid connection must also support your desired charging power. An 11kW charger requires a 3x16A grid connection to charge at full power, and a 22kW one needs 3x32A.

💡 What can a smart EV charger do?

At your parking space, of course!

📡 But keep in mind that on top of an electricity connection, your smart charger also needs internet access. Be it WiFi, cable, or 4G.
