StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void's closed beta
Today the StarCraft II trilogy's final chapter was released in closed beta, with the first wave of invitations going to lucky players around the world. It's not too late to partake: head over to Battle.net to sign up through your account.

Blizzard Entertainment is rolling out a slew of changes to StarCraft II. Expect completely new units, modifications to existing units, tweaks in the game's resource economy, and the highly anticipated Archon mode that will allow players to tag-team.

Archon mode lets you co-op online
Now two players can control a single army at the same time and go head-to-head in 2v2 matches online. Introduced as a way to ease new players into StarCraft, Archon mode enables more experienced players to take control, while teaching novices the ropes.
New units and the return of a fan favorite
Starting with the humans, Terrans will get a range unit called the Cyclone that can lock on and deal major damage to a target within range of sight.

Zerg will also get a range unit, the Ravager, that can deal area splash damage with its bile attack. The original StarCraft Lurker from Brood War is finally making its much-anticipated comeback.
The star of the expansion, the Protoss, will get two new units: Disruptor and Adept. The Disruptor is a high-area splash-damage unit that requires a bit of manual control to be effective. The brand new Adept is the first female Protoss unit in the game, with the ability to create a mirror image that also serves as a teleportation waypoint. She can warp into the mirror's position from anywhere on the map, making the unit highly prized as a harassment tool.

3 new multiplayer maps
Not much is known about the new multiplayer maps, except for the description provided by Blizzard, coupled with the announcement that they're designed with the new updates in mind.

If you miss the closed beta, you can get your hands on the preview at BlizzCon, which takes place on November 6 and 7.
